Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MPBOCWWB) runs Chikitsa Sahayata Yojana, also called Medical Aid Scheme (Ayushman Bharat Niramayam), which gives registered construction workers and their family members free treatment of up to ₹5,00,000 per family every year at listed hospitals. Registration of workers is open through Shram Seva Portal of the Labour Department.
Scheme has been running since 2004 and its rules were revised in 2014. After Ayushman Bharat Niramayam started in the state, three older health schemes, Rajya Bimari Sahayata Yojana, Pandit Deendayal Antyodaya Upchar Yojana and Mukhyamantri Bal Hriday Upchar Yojana, were merged into it. Board now pays the premium for its workers directly to State Health Agency, so workers do not pay anything for the health cover.
Medical Aid Scheme (Ayushman Bharat Niramayam) MPBOCWWB Details
Cover works in cashless mode. A registered worker walks into a listed hospital with a valid board identity card, gets the case verified at the Ayushman help desk, and treatment starts without paying cash upfront, up to the yearly family limit of ₹5 lakh. Family members who are dependent on the worker are also covered under the same limit.
As per the MOU signed between the Board and State Health Agency, the Board pays ₹125 crore per year as premium for registered construction workers and their families. Labour Department data shows over 17.59 lakh registered construction workers in the state and more than 62.85 lakh family members linked to them, so the cover reaches a large group.
One point that many workers get wrong: board registration is not a yearly formality. Registration fee is ₹5 and a contribution of ₹10 is paid to the board fund, and that registration stays valid for five years. After that it has to be renewed through the renewal link on the portal. If registration lapses, the health cover linked to it also stops.

Who Can Apply
Health cover is tied to board registration, so the first check is whether the worker is registered with MPBOCWWB. Rules for that registration are simple and are given below.
- Worker should live in Madhya Pradesh and work in building or other construction work.
- Age should be between 18 and 60 years on the date of registration.
- Worker should have done at least 90 days of construction work in the last 12 months. Self declaration of these 90 days is accepted now, no employer certificate is forced.
- Registration should be live, that is renewed after the five year period is over.
- Dependent family members listed with the worker get the same cover.
Women workers with a valid identity card can use the benefit for delivery, and male workers with a valid card can use it for their wife's delivery. Board has also allowed workers who were marked not eligible during the 2018-19 physical checking to apply again as fresh registrations, provided the member has e-KYC done on Samagra portal and is registered on e-Shram portal.
Apply Process for Registration and Scheme Benefit
Whole process runs online on Shram Seva Portal. Keep the Samagra family ID and Samagra member ID ready before starting, because the form pulls family details from Samagra.
STEP 1 - Open the Labour Department portal at labour.mp.gov.in and look for the online services block on the homepage.
STEP 2 - Click on online application for construction worker registration to open the registration form.
STEP 3 - Enter the Samagra member ID and Samagra family ID and click on Get Details. Family and member information will show on the screen.
STEP 4 - Fill all boxes marked with a star, mainly work details, bank account details and the 90 day work declaration.
STEP 5 - Upload the required documents in the sizes shown on the page, then pay the small fee online and save the application number.
STEP 6 - Track the file on the registration application status page. Once approved, download the labour card from the labour card download page.
STEP 7 - For other board schemes, use the scheme benefit application page. For treatment under this health cover, no separate form is needed. Go to a listed hospital with the labour card and Aadhaar, and the hospital Ayushman desk does the rest.
If the five year period is over, renew first through the registration renewal page, otherwise the hospital may not find the record.
Documents Required
Documents asked at the time of board registration are short and most workers already have them at home.
