Bihar Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana

Bihar government has also launched the Bihar Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana for SC / ST / OBC families. Under this scheme, the state government provides support of Rs 1.2 lakh for rebuilding homes to those people who were allotted houses before 1996 under Indira Awas Yojana or another housing scheme. In the first 5 months, more than 20,000 beneficiaries will get the support amount from the state government.

The main aim of the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana (MGAY) in Bihar is to help poor people live in good houses. Along with the official launch of the MGAY scheme, the state government has also launched Mukhyamantri Vaas Sthal Kray Sahayata Yojana to provide support of Rs 60,000 to buy land and make families eligible for support under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G).

Till the time people do not have their own roof, the benefits of other welfare schemes of Bihar government also go wasted. The Rural Development Department will provide the support amount directly into the bank account of beneficiaries.

Bihar Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana (MGAY) Amount

All the people who have been allotted new houses under Indira Awas Yojana or another housing scheme before FY 1996 can now get financial support of Rs 1.2 lakh for reconstruction. This is because the houses given to the allottees are now in a poor condition and need to be rebuilt. People belonging to the SC / ST / OBC category mainly live in these houses.

Launch of Bihar Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana

Marking the official launch of the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana, former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar transferred the support amount into the bank account of 200 beneficiaries. After the official launch, the MGAY scheme is expected to benefit around 20,000 people in the first 5 months.

All those families who have a roof

• Rural families who have a roof or land of their own can now get support of Rs 1.2 lakh under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (earlier named Indira Awas Yojana). This support is given for building a new house or renovating an old house.
• All the people who have been allotted houses under Indira Awas Yojana or another scheme before FY 1996 can now get financial support of Rs 1.2 lakh for rebuilding under the Bihar Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana.

All those families who do not have a roof

Families who do not have a roof cannot get support under PMAY Gramin or Bihar Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana. Such families will firstly have to take support of Rs 60,000 under the Mukhyamantri Vaas Sthal Kray Sahayata Yojana. This support of Rs 60,000 is for buying land for a house. After getting land, poor families will be able to get support of Rs 1.2 lakh under PMAY Gramin or Bihar Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana. Through this support, applicants will be able to get their new home built.
