Delhi government's Directorate of Education (DoE) runs online nursery, KG and Class 1 admission every year at edudel.nic.in for open seats in Delhi government recognised private unaided schools, and the 2026-27 admission cycle has already wrapped up, with more than 1,741 schools taking part this time. Application forms for entry level classes were available from 4 December 2025 to 27 December 2025.
For the 2026-27 session, DoE brought in a uniform age system across all these schools, replacing the old practice where each school set its own age rule. A child had to be 3 years to less than 4 years old for Nursery as on 31 March 2026, with one month relaxation allowed on both the lower and upper limit. Registration fee stayed at ₹25 per form, and buying the school prospectus remained optional for parents.
Delhi Nursery Admission 2026-27 Online Application at edudel.nic.in
Delhi Nursery Admission works the same way every year, so the process given below stays useful for parents planning ahead for the next academic session too. Here is how the online application is filled once DoE opens the window each year.
STEP 1 - Go to the official Directorate of Education website at edudel.nic.in and look for the nursery, KG and Class 1 admission link on the homepage once it goes live for the new session.
STEP 2 - Register with a valid mobile number and email ID, then log in to start a fresh application form for the open seat category.
STEP 3 - Fill in the child's date of birth, parents' details, address and school preferences, then upload the required documents in the format asked on the portal. Read the complete application procedure for Nursery / KG / 1st Class Admission in Delhi for a detailed walkthrough.
STEP 4 - Pay the ₹25 registration fee, submit the form at each chosen school, and keep the confirmation printout safe for the selection rounds that follow.
Parents facing money trouble in paying school fees after admission can also check the Delhi Fee Assistance Scheme, which offers income linked support for eligible families.
Delhi Nursery Admission 2026-27 Age Criteria
DoE fixed one common age band for Nursery, KG and Class 1 across all 1,741-plus participating schools for the 2026-27 session, calculated as on 31 March 2026. A month's relaxation applied on both ends, so schools could not reject a child who fell just outside the exact range.
| Class | Age as on 31 March 2026 |
|---|---|
| Nursery | 3 years to less than 4 years (1 month relaxation either side) |
| KG | 4 years to less than 5 years (1 month relaxation either side) |
| Class 1 | 5 years to less than 6 years (1 month relaxation either side) |
This uniform age band was a big change from earlier years, when private schools had their own freedom to set slightly different cut off ages. All private unaided recognised schools admitting children in pre-school, pre-primary and Class 1 also had to reserve 25 percent seats for economically weaker sections (EWS), disadvantaged group (DG) and children with disability under the RPWD Act, 2016.

WHEN ADMISSION OPEN FOR LKG CLASS
Sir/Ma'am,
My Daughter is 3+(DOB 25-12-2018). I have not applied for recent online forms that was submitted(last date 21-01-2022) thinking she is very small too attend schools, Now i would to like enrol my child in the near by area as per age criteria defined by Delhi Govt.
I am getting mix of feedback and confused related to admission as some of the schools are ready to get admission in nursery while one of the school i am really interested to get admission for daughter is saying they consider 4+(offering admission in Play) for nursery which is against Govt guidelines.
Please guide me if nursery admission age limit is 3+ or is 4+. If she is not given admission in nursery class she will be eligible for KG next year if schools are not following age criteria strictly at least minimum age criteria?
