West Bengal Textile Incentive Scheme: Incentive for Energy Efficiency supports micro and small textile units in West Bengal with money help for energy audits and energy saving installations. This scheme encourages sustainable practices and helps textile units in the state stay competitive while cutting their power costs.
This incentive is a sub scheme under the wider West Bengal Textile Incentive Scheme, which started on 13 December 2022 under the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles, Government of West Bengal. The scheme stays valid for a period of five years, so it continues to accept applications through 2026.
West Bengal Textile Incentive Scheme - Incentive for Energy Efficiency - Introduction
The main aim of the West Bengal Textile Incentive Scheme is to lift the whole textile value chain, from raw fibre to finished garments. By rewarding the setting up of new units, the government wants to make the best use of resources and create more jobs across the state.
This particular incentive for energy efficiency gives eligible micro or small enterprises a useful cash boost. A unit that qualifies can claim a reimbursement for energy audits done by a certified agency. It can also get support for the cost of putting in place the energy saving measures suggested in the audit report.
As per the Directorate of Textiles, the scheme is listed among the ongoing textile schemes of the state and is modified from time to time. Units that started production on or after 1 April 2022 and hold the required certificates can apply through the official portal.
