Madhya Pradesh government is running Mukhyamantri Nikah Yojana in 2026 to give money help of ₹55,000 for the marriage of poor Muslim girls, widows and abandoned women. Out of this, ₹49,000 goes to the bride through an account payee cheque and ₹6,000 goes to the body that organises the mass Nikah event.
Social Justice and Disabled Persons Welfare Department, Madhya Pradesh runs this scheme, which started in 2012. Applications are taken all year through the local municipal body or janpad panchayat, and every case is now handled online on Vivah Portal. Latest scheme rules were revised through department letters issued in 2025, so the process and portal steps have changed a bit from the old system.
Mukhyamantri Nikah Yojana Details
Help under this scheme is given only for mass Nikah events, not for a marriage done alone at home. Local bodies like nagar nigam, nagar palika, nagar parishad and janpad panchayat organise these events, and the district in-charge minister fixes the dates. A mass Nikah event is held only when at least 5 couples apply together.
Money is not given in cash to the family. Bride gets ₹49,000 through an account payee cheque as per the department letter on payment mode, so the bank account details have to be correct at the time of applying. Payment for the organising body is a fixed ₹6,000 per couple to cover event costs.

How to Apply for Mukhyamantri Nikah Yojana
Form is free and there is no application fee. Do not apply at the last minute, because the file has to be checked and entered on the portal before the event date.
STEP 1 - Get the free application form from your nearest office, that is nagar nigam, nagar palika or nagar parishad in a city area, and gram panchayat or janpad panchayat in a village area. Bride and groom both have to fill and sign the form together.
STEP 2 - Attach the required documents, mainly the Madhya Pradesh residence proof, Aadhaar of both, age proof and bank passbook copy of the bride, and submit the form at the same office at least 15 days before the event date.
STEP 3 - Office staff enter your case on Vivah Portal at vivahportal.mp.gov.in, where the checking of Samagra and Aadhaar details is done online. Approval is given by the chief executive officer of the janpad panchayat in village areas, and by the commissioner or chief municipal officer in city areas.
STEP 4 - Once your file is approved, the acceptance order comes on the portal around 7 days before the ceremony. Reach the event venue on the fixed date with your ID proof, and the cheque of ₹49,000 is handed over to the bride at or after the event.
If a case gets stuck or locked on the portal, the department has a separate unlock process through the district office, added by the letter of 19 September 2025. Ask the same office where you submitted the form to raise the unlock request.
Documents Required
Keep the papers ready in a single file before going to the office, as an incomplete file is the main reason applications get delayed.
- Madhya Pradesh residence proof of the bride or her guardian, and Samagra ID if you have one.
- Aadhaar card of both bride and groom, along with the bank passbook copy of the bride.
- Age proof such as school marksheet, birth certificate or a medical age certificate.
- Two passport size photographs of the bride and the groom.
- Death certificate of the husband for widows, or the court order of divorce for abandoned women.
- Labour registration card, if the family is registered with Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
2026 Update on the Scheme
Scheme is running in 2026 and has not been closed. Benefit amount is still ₹55,000 per couple, and no hike has been announced by the department till date. Department has issued a set of rule changes in 2025 about portal working, case unlocking and better rollout, and these are being followed in the current year. Event dates for the year are decided district wise, so check with your local body office for the next mass Nikah date in your district.
Girls of other communities in the state get the same amount under Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah / Nikah Yojana, which runs on the same portal and same rules. Widows planning a second marriage can also check Mukhyamantri Kalyani Vivah Sahayta Yojana for ₹2 lakh support.
