Social Justice and Disabled Persons Welfare Department last refreshed the scheme page on 29 June 2026, so the scheme is running normally in 2026.
Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah / Nikah Yojana Details
Started in 2006 under Deendayal Antyodaya Mission, this scheme covers daughters of poor families, widows and divorced or abandoned women. Both Hindu marriages and Muslim nikah ceremonies are covered, and the money reaches the bride only when the wedding takes place in a mass marriage programme organised by the local body.
One point trips up many families. A marriage done privately at home, outside an approved group ceremony, does not get this money. So the first step is to find out the date of the next mass marriage event in your panchayat or nagar nigam area and get your name added to that list.
Benefit Amount in 2026
Older articles still mention an ₹11,000 cheque plus a ₹38,000 gift. That split is outdated. As per the department's current scheme page, the bride gets a single amount of ₹49,000 by account payee cheque for setting up her home, and the organising body gets ₹6,000 as reimbursement for arranging the ceremony.

Who Can Apply
Rules on who qualifies are simple and there is no income cap written into the scheme page, but the case has to fit the poor or registered worker category that the local body checks. Read the points below before filling the form.
- Bride or her guardian must be a native resident of Madhya Pradesh, and this is checked from Samagra and local records.
- Bride must have completed 18 years and the groom must have completed 21 years on the wedding date.
- Widows and legally divorced or abandoned women can also apply for their own marriage under the same scheme.
- Marriage has to happen in an approved mass marriage or nikah programme run by a Janpad Panchayat, Nagar Palika or Nagar Nigam.
Application Process
Whole process is offline at the form stage and online at the approval stage. The local body enters your case on the vivah portal, and payment moves only after that entry is approved.
STEP 1 - Find out the date of the next mass marriage programme in your area. In villages, ask at the Gram Panchayat or Janpad Panchayat office. In towns and cities, ask at the Nagar Nigam, Nagar Palika or Nagar Parishad office.
STEP 2 - Collect the printed application form from that same office. There is no fee for the form.
STEP 3 - Fill in the bride's name, groom's name, Samagra ID, Aadhaar number, ages, address and bank details. Wrong age entry is the most common reason for rejection, so match it with the Aadhaar or school certificate.
STEP 4 - Attach the required documents and submit the form at the office before the last date announced for that particular marriage event.
STEP 5 - Officials check the papers and register the case on the Samagra Vivah Portal. For villages the approving officer is the Chief Executive Officer of the Janpad Panchayat, and in cities it is the Commissioner of the Nagar Nigam or the Chief Municipal Officer.
STEP 6 - Attend the group ceremony on the fixed date. After the marriage is recorded, the ₹49,000 account payee cheque is handed over to the bride.
Documents Required
Keep photocopies plus original papers ready when you go to the office, because the clerk usually verifies originals on the spot.
