The low cost generic medicines under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) are available at the nearest Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country. PMBJP is implemented by Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), earlier known as Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India (BPPI), under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers. The scheme was launched in November 2008 with the aim of making quality generic medicines available at affordable prices to all sections of society. As per the latest guidelines, all districts are now open for PMBJK registration and applicants can apply for any district or state through the online application portal.

PMBJP Kendra Registration - PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra Apply Online

Any eligible candidate who wants to open a PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra can complete the online registration in the steps given below. The whole process is done on the official PMBI website and takes only a few minutes.

STEP 1 - Visit the official website of Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) at https://janaushadhi.gov.in.

STEP 2 - On the homepage, go to the Kendra registration section and click on the "Apply for Kendra" option. This opens the online registration page where new applicants can create their account.

STEP 3 - The PM Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana page will appear as shown below. From here you can find all the latest circulars, guidelines and the online application link.

STEP 4 - Click on the "Apply for Kendra" link in the header to open the online registration form for PM Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra. The direct registration link is https://janaushadhi.gov.in/apply-for-kendra.

STEP 5 - Enter your details in the registration form to create your account. After registration, use the login page at https://janaushadhi.gov.in/login-to-kendra to complete the remaining application process.

STEP 6 - After login, fill in all the required details accurately, upload the required documents and click on the "Submit" button to complete the PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra online registration form.

A non-refundable application fee of Rs. 5,000 is to be deposited along with the PMBJP Kendra opening application form. The application fee is not applicable for applicants belonging to the category of women entrepreneurs, Divyang, SC, ST, ex-servicemen and any entrepreneurs of aspirational districts notified by NITI Aayog, in Himalayan, Island territories and North-Eastern states.

Eligibility Criteria to Open PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra

To open a new PMBJP Kendra, the applicant must meet the eligibility conditions set by PMBI. The main requirement is a pharmacy qualification, either for the applicant himself or for the pharmacist he employs.

• Individual applicants must hold a D. Pharma or B. Pharma degree, or they have to employ D. Pharma / B. Pharma degree holders and provide proof of the same at the time of application or final approval.
• Entrepreneurs, pharmacists, trusts, societies and charitable organizations applying for a PMBJK must employ B. Pharma / D. Pharma degree holders and submit proof of the same.
• The applicant needs own or hired space of minimum 120 sq. ft., supported by a proper lease agreement or space allotment letter.
• A minimum distance of 1 km must be maintained between two Kendras in all districts. No distance restriction applies within 500 meters of district government hospitals and private hospitals with 100 or more beds.

Benefits and Incentives of PM Jan Aushadhi Yojana

PM Jan Aushadhi Yojana offers good earning opportunities to Kendra owners along with affordable medicines to the public. The incentive structure has been improved over time to attract more entrepreneurs.

• Operating margin of 20% on the MRP (excluding taxes) of each drug is given to the operating agency.
• Normal incentive of 20% of monthly purchase made from PMBI, subject to a ceiling of Rs. 20,000 per month, is given on a 50:50 basis. Half is based on monthly purchase and half on maintaining the required stock of medicines.
• Special incentive of Rs. 2 lakh is given as a one-time grant to eligible categories like women entrepreneurs, Divyang, SC, ST, ex-servicemen and entrepreneurs in aspirational districts, Himalayan, Island territories and North-Eastern states. This includes Rs. 1.50 lakh for furniture and fixtures and Rs. 0.50 lakh for computer, internet and printer.
• Prices of Jan Aushadhi medicines are 50% to 90% less than branded medicines in the open market.

Documents Required for PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra Application

Applicants need to attach self-attested documents with the application form. The list of required documents is given below.

• Aadhaar Card and PAN Card of the applicant. Applications without Aadhaar Card are rejected in case of individual or proprietor applicants.
• Pharmacist registration certificate from the State Council.
• Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last two years and bank statement for the last six months.
• Certificate of SC/ST or Divyang (PWD) if applying under a special category, along with the undertaking of the distance policy.
