Telangana government's Cheyutha Pension Scheme, earlier known as Aasara Pension Scheme, provides monthly financial support to senior citizens, widows, single women, disabled persons, beedi workers, toddy tappers, weavers, and patients with HIV, filariasis, and kidney disease. The scheme is a key part of the state's social security net and is accepting applications through government offices and Praja Palana centers.
The scheme was renamed from Aasara to Cheyutha after the new government came to power. From February 2025, the pension amounts were doubled. Most beneficiary categories now get ₹4,000 per month, while disabled persons get ₹6,000 per month. This article explains the Cheyutha Pension Scheme application, eligibility, benefits, amount, status check, and rules.
Cheyutha Pension Scheme was launched to protect the old and at-risk sections of society, in particular the old and infirm, people with HIV-AIDS, widows, weavers, toddy tappers, and beedi workers, who have lost their means of livelihood with growing age. The aim is to support their day to day minimum needs so they can live with dignity and social security.
For the financial year 2026-2027, the Telangana government has allocated ₹14,861 crore to the Cheyutha pension scheme. As per the budget, two lakh new pensions will be added under the scheme this year. The pension amount is credited directly to the bank account of eligible beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer.
Cheyutha Pension Scheme Amount
From February 2025, the Telangana government doubled the pension amounts under the Cheyutha scheme. Old age people, widows, single women, weavers, toddy tappers, beedi workers, and patients with HIV, filariasis, and kidney disease get ₹4,000 per month. Disabled persons get ₹6,000 per month. Earlier these amounts were ₹2,016 and ₹3,016 respectively.
