Madhya Pradesh Transport Department is running Motor Vehicle Driver-Conductor Welfare Scheme - Pradhanmantri Suraksha Bima Yojana for registered drivers and conductors of transport vehicles, and registration stays open through the year. Under this scheme, an accident cover of ₹2 lakh is given on accidental death or full permanent disability, and ₹1 lakh on partial permanent disability.
Cover works under the rules of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, the central accident insurance scheme with a premium of ₹20 per year. Drivers and conductors registered with the state transport welfare board get this cover as part of the welfare fund benefits, so the family does not lose everything after one bad accident.
Motor Vehicle Driver-Conductor Welfare Scheme - Pradhanmantri Suraksha Bima Yojana Details
This is a state-level scheme of Madhya Pradesh, run by the Transport Department for people working in the unorganised transport sector. Drivers and conductors who hold a valid commercial licence and are registered on Samagra Portal can join it. Cover runs for one year, from 1 June to 31 May, and it renews every year as long as the premium is paid on time.
PMSBY rules were not changed in 2026. Premium stays ₹20 a year, cover stays ₹2 lakh, and the age band stays 18 to 70 years. Bank auto-debit remains the way the premium is taken, so the savings account has to hold enough balance around the last week of May each year, otherwise cover lapses for that year.

Apply process for the scheme
Applying takes two parts. First a Samagra registration, then the scheme form at the transport office. Both are simple, and no fee is charged for the form itself.
STEP 1 - Open the Samagra portal at samagra.gov.in and register your family or personal details. Put in the Aadhaar number and verify it with the OTP that comes on the mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
STEP 2 - Fill the details asked, upload the documents, and submit. If doing it online feels hard, the same registration can be done at the nearest Lok Seva Kendra, MP Online kiosk or Common Service Centre.
STEP 3 - Download the scheme application form from the official scheme rules PDF, where the form is given on page 9.
STEP 4 - Fill the form with your name, licence number, Samagra ID and bank account details. Attach self-attested copies of every required document.
STEP 5 - Submit the signed form at your District Transport Office or Regional Transport Office. Keep the receipt safe, it helps later at claim time.
STEP 6 - For the PMSBY part, give the consent and auto-debit form at your bank branch, or enable it through net banking. Many banks also allow enrolment through their mobile app under the Jan Suraksha section.

A copy of the same claim should also go to the District Transport Office so the welfare board record stays updated. For any doubt on PMSBY rules, the toll free Jan Suraksha helpline 1800-180-1111 or 1800-110-001 can be used, and the scheme rules are given on jansuraksha.gov.in.
