Madhya Pradesh government is running Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students in 2026 through the Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Department, and applications for the current session are taken online on MP Scholarship Portal 2.0. Students of Class 11 and above, including graduation, post graduation, diploma and professional courses, get tuition fee payment plus a monthly maintenance amount straight into their Aadhaar linked bank account.
Family income limit for this scholarship is ₹3,00,000 per year. Payment comes as DBT payment, so a working bank account with Aadhaar seeding is a must before you apply.
Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students Madhya Pradesh
This scholarship covers OBC students of Madhya Pradesh who have passed Class 10 and moved into higher studies. Earlier the applications used to run on the old scholarshipportal.mp.nic.in website. That website is no longer working. All applications now go through MP Scholarship Portal 2.0, which is handled by NIC Madhya Pradesh. Scheme rules are published by Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Department.
One more thing students often miss. Your OBC caste certificate should be a digital certificate and, where asked, it should mention non creamy layer status. A plain caste certificate can get your form rejected at the college verification stage.
How to Apply Online
Whole process is online and you can do it yourself from a mobile or a cyber cafe. Keep your Samagra ID and college code with you before starting.
STEP 1 - Open the official website at hescholarship.mp.gov.in and look at the student section on the homepage.
STEP 2 - Click on the registration link and enter your Samagra ID, Aadhaar number and mobile number to create your login. An OTP comes on the registered mobile number, put it in and finish registration.
STEP 3 - Log in with the user ID and password you just made, then pick Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for OBC Students from the scheme list.
STEP 4 - Fill your course details, college code, branch code, hosteller or day scholar status and bank account details. Check the bank account number twice, wrong account details are the biggest reason payments get stuck.
STEP 5 - Upload the scanned documents, submit the form and take a printout. Now visit your college scholarship section and get the form verified, because payment starts only after college and department approval.

Benefit Amount
Money you get is not one fixed figure. It depends on your course, whether your college is government or private, and whether you stay in a hostel or come from home. In government colleges the admitted tuition fee is paid in full. In private colleges the fee payment is capped as per department rates.
Along with the fee, a monthly maintenance amount is paid for the months of study. Hostellers get a higher rate than day scholars. Professional courses like engineering and medical get a higher fee cap than general BA, B.Com and B.Sc courses.
Who Can Apply
Rules are simple, but each point is checked at verification, so read them once properly.
- Student should be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh and should have a valid Samagra ID.
- Student should belong to the OBC category with a digital caste certificate, and non creamy layer status where the department asks for it.
- Total yearly family income from all sources should be ₹3,00,000 or less, as per the income certificate issued by Tehsildar or SDM.
- Student should have passed Class 10 and taken regular admission in a recognised institution in a post matric course.
Documents Required

- Digital OBC caste certificate, with non creamy layer mention where asked
- Income certificate of parents from Tehsildar or SDM
- Class 10 mark sheet and last passed exam mark sheet

Status Check and Help
After submitting, log in again on the same portal and open the application status page to see whether your form is pending at college level, at department level or already approved for payment. If the status shows pending for a long time, first check with your college scholarship section, since most files stop at college verification.
For OBC post matric scholarship problems, the portal lists the help number 0755-2553329 and the email nodalofficerobc at mp dot gov dot in. Students of other categories can also see the related Post Matric College Scholarship for Scheduled Caste students, and girl students from rural areas can check Gaon Ki Beti Yojana on the same portal.
