PM Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) continues to support street vendors across India with collateral-free working capital loans. The scheme has disbursed over ₹18,856 crore to more than 1.4 crore beneficiaries as of July 2026. Recent updates have increased loan limits and introduced a new UPI-linked credit card facility for eligible vendors.
Launched in June 2020 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, this central sector scheme helps street vendors restart and grow their businesses. The government has extended the lending period to March 2025 and expanded coverage to include vendors from census towns. Whether you sell vegetables, run a tea stall, or work as a cobbler, the scheme offers financial support without asking for collateral.
PM Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) - Key Updates 2026
The scheme has seen several important changes in 2025-26 that affect both new and existing beneficiaries. Loan amounts for the first two tranches have been raised, a credit card facility has been launched, and vendors can now transfer their records when moving to a new city. The portal also supports more Indian languages and has added new grievance tracking features.
Revised Loan Amounts
Starting September 2025, the loan limits for the first two tranches have been increased. These revised amounts apply to all applications processed after the update, including pending applications that were returned by banks or picked up but not sanctioned.
STEP 1 - First tranche loan limit is now ₹15,000 (previously ₹10,000). This applies to new applications and pending ones that were returned by banks or picked up but not sanctioned before September 2025.
STEP 2 - Second tranche loan limit is now ₹25,000 (previously ₹20,000). Vendors whose first tranche loans were closed on or after 1 January 2025 are eligible for this increased amount.
STEP 3 - Third tranche remains at ₹50,000. Vendors whose second tranche loans were closed on or after 1 January 2025 can apply for the third tranche at this amount.
New PM SVANidhi Credit Card
A RuPay credit card facility linked to UPI has been introduced for vendors who have fully repaid their second tranche or have availed the third loan. The card comes with a ₹30,000 working capital limit and can be applied for directly through the vendor login on the portal. Credit card issuers verify and approve applications through their dedicated logins. The Credit Card User Manual and FAQs are available on the portal under the Guidelines section.
Vendor Mobility and Census Towns
Vendors who relocate to a new Urban Local Body can now transfer their PM SVANidhi application and records digitally through the ULB Transfer facility. This allows modification of applicant details (except Aadhaar-fetched data) and ensures uninterrupted access to scheme benefits. A new Vending Category 'E' has been introduced specifically for vendors from census towns, enabling them to apply for loans under the scheme for the first time.
Other Important Changes
The portal now supports additional Indian languages including Telugu, Odiya, Sanskrit, Malayalam, and Tamil through Bhashini integration. Account number validation has been added to all application forms. Vendors must now provide two reference details in their applications. Banks can reject applications if the applicant has other loan accounts marked as NPA or written off. For relocated vendors, e-KYC using biometric devices is available once the new ULB certifies them. A grievance dashboard with enhanced tracking has been added to the login portal.
