Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjivani Prakalp is a climate-resilient agriculture project run by the Maharashtra government in partnership with the World Bank. In 2026, the project continues as NDKSP 2.0 and now covers 21 districts and 7,196 drought-prone and salinity-affected villages across the state.
The scheme helps small and marginal farmers improve their farm income by adopting modern, climate-smart farming methods. Financial support is sent directly to the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of eligible people through the online DBT portal.
Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjivani Prakalp - Introduction
Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjivani Prakalp (NDKSP) was launched by the Maharashtra government on 17 January 2018 as the Project on Climate Resilient Agriculture (PoCRA). The first phase covered about 5,000 villages in 15 districts. The second phase, known as NDKSP 2.0, started in 2025 and runs for six years.
The total project cost is about ₹6,000 crore, with the World Bank supporting around USD 490 million. The project follows a scientific village selection process based on a vulnerability index. Villages facing high rainfall variability, water shortage, and low irrigation access get top priority.
The main aim of the project is to improve the climate resistance and profitability of small farmer families. It promotes water conservation, soil health management, micro-irrigation, and value addition to crops. Women farmers get special attention through village-level mobilizers known as Krushi Tais.
