Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana is a state-level scheme of the Bihar Industries Department that helps young men from General and Backward Class (BC-02) categories start their own business with total support of up to ₹10 lakh.

Out of this amount, ₹5 lakh comes as a non-repayable subsidy and the remaining ₹5 lakh as an interest-free loan. Online applications for the 2025-26 cycle were open from 25 February 2026 to 23 March 2026, and the selection list was released on 20 May 2026 at udyami.bihar.gov.in.

Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana - Introduction

Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana is a part of the wider Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana (MMUY) run by the Department of Industries, Bihar. The scheme is part of the state's Saat Nischay Part 2 promise and is made for first-generation entrepreneurs who want to set up a manufacturing or service unit.

The scheme is meant only for male candidates from the General and Backward Class (BC-02) categories. Women applicants are covered under the separate Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyami Yojana, and minority candidates have their own Alpsankhyak Udyami Yojana, so they should apply under those schemes instead.

For example, if a young resident of Patna wants to start a small manufacturing unit, this support helps him build his venture while adding to the local economy. The full amount is released after the bank account gets linked to the applicant's Udyami login on the official portal.

Benefits

Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana offers a balanced financial model to help a new business get going.

Component Amount
Non-repayable Grant Up to ₹5,00,000
Interest-free Loan Up to ₹5,00,000

The total financial support is ₹10,00,000. The money is meant for manufacturing or service units and usually comes in instalments, based on how much the business has progressed. In October 2026, the first instalment was distributed to selected beneficiaries at an orientation programme in Patna. In the first phase, about ₹96 crore was given to 4,800 beneficiaries, with each getting ₹2 lakh as the first instalment.

Beneficiaries need to repay the ₹5 lakh loan portion in 84 equal monthly instalments, and repayment starts one year after the money is released. Since this part is interest-free, only the principal is deducted every month. The ₹5 lakh subsidy portion does not need any repayment at all. Selected candidates also take part in required training sessions to sharpen their business management and entrepreneurial skills.
