Dr. P. G. Solanki Scheme for Loan/Assistance to Medical Post Graduate Doctors of Scheduled Caste offers loans and cash support to Scheduled Caste doctors in Gujarat who hold an M.D. or M.S. degree. The scheme helps these doctors open their own clinic or consultation room and start an independent practice.
Launched in 1982 by the Director of Scheduled Caste Welfare under the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat, the scheme still accepts applications in the 2026-27 financial year. Eligible doctors receive ₹50,000 as support and a loan of up to ₹3,00,000 at a 4% interest rate for clinic setup and related expenses.
Dr. P. G. Solanki Scheme for Loan/Assistance to Medical Post Graduate Doctors of Scheduled Caste - Introduction
Starting a private clinic requires money for equipment, furniture, rent and running costs, which many fresh doctors find hard to arrange. This scheme removes that money problem for Scheduled Caste post-graduate doctors so they can serve patients independently instead of waiting for a job.
Loan repayment is easy and flexible. Repayment happens in equal monthly installments spread over four years, starting after the bank loan period ends or after eight years, whichever comes first. Doctors are also free to repay the full outstanding amount before the deadline without any penalty.
