DakPay UPI App is the official digital payment app of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). IPPB along with Department of Posts (DoP) launched DakPay on 15 December 2020 to make digital transactions easy for people across India. The app is built on BHIM UPI and lets users send money, pay bills, scan QR codes and manage multiple bank accounts from one place.
DakPay UPI App is a safe, easy and reliable payments app. Using the app, you can make instant money transfers with UPI and also make instant payments at offline and online stores. The app is available for both Android and iOS users now. It is part of the ongoing effort to bring digital financial services to the last mile through the trusted Postal (Dak) network.

How to Download DakPay UPI App
DakPay UPI App can be downloaded from the official IPPB website and app stores. The official DakPay App page is available at ippbonline.bank.in/web/ippb/dakpay-app. Android users can get the app from Google Play Store, and iPhone users can download it from the Apple App Store. The app is free to download.
How to Create DakPay UPI ID - Dak Pay App Registration
STEP 1 - Download and install the DakPay UPI App from Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).
STEP 2 - Select your preferred language. The app supports English, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu.
STEP 3 - Switch the device location on, as it is required by NPCI for UPI transactions.
STEP 4 - Verify your mobile number and enter all the basic details required for registration.
STEP 5 - Select your bank and set the UPI PIN. Your DakPay app is now ready for transactions.
Permissions for Dak Pay App and Reasons
Like most UPI apps, DakPay asks for a few permissions on your phone. Each permission has a clear reason, as given below.
- SMS - To verify your phone number for registration.
- Location - Required by NPCI for UPI transactions.
- Contacts - To send money to your contacts.
- Camera - To scan QR codes for making payments.
- Storage - To store scanned QR codes.

Taking the vision of PM Narendra Modi's financial inclusion and AatmaNirbhar Bharat forward, India Post launched DakPay, a UPI based digital payments app for inter-bank fund transfers, merchant payments and access to various postal products. - VDC - Shop and make payments with a digital form of a debit card powered by Rupay.

- Bill Payments - People can now make bill payments and recharges to 30+ categories and 23000+ billers.
- Postal Products - Customers can make payments for postal products like RD, PPF and Sukanya Samriddhi Account.
Things You Can Do on the DakPay App
Transfer money with UPI: Send and request money from your contacts anytime, anywhere. You can instantly transfer money to any UPI ID or virtual payment address (VPA), and also send money to any bank account using an IFSC code. You can check your account balance, save beneficiaries and manage multiple bank accounts across 200+ banks and PSPs.
Make safe, contactless offline payments: Pay safely at stores using the DakPay dynamic QR and make cashless payments while shopping for grocery, medicines and more using the scan and pay option. Pay at your neighborhood Kirana store and across food and shopping outlets like Big Bazaar, V-Mart, KFC, Bata, More, Star Bazaar, Cafe Coffee Day and Pantaloons.
IPPB Dak Pay Digital Payment App Features
DakPay UPI App brings together many banking and payment services in one place. Some of the main features are listed below.
- Through the DakPay app, customers can send money to others using Domestic Money Transfers (DMT), scan QR codes, and make payments for services and merchants digitally through a virtual debit card and UPI.
- The app helps build a cashless ecosystem through biometrics, provides interoperable banking services to customers of any bank, and offers utility bill payment services.
- Announcing the launch of the DakPay app, Ravi Shankar Prasad, then Union Minister for Communications, Electronics and IT and Law and Justice, said, "India Post stood the test of times by serving the nation through various postal services digitally and physically during nationwide lockdown."
- "This new service will not only give access to banking services and postal products online, but also is a unique concept where one can order and avail postal financial services at doorsteps," Prasad added.
- At the launch event, Prasad also appreciated IPPB's efforts during the fight against Covid-19 by providing doorstep financial support through AePS, leading to financial help for the unbanked and underbanked.
- "The launching of DakPay is a big step in IPPB's journey and will further deepen complete financial coverage to bring a truly inclusive financial system. Our motto is - Every customer is important, every transaction is significant and every deposit is valuable," said J Venkatramu, then MD and CEO, India Post Payments Bank.
- IPPB has been set up under the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, with 100% equity owned by Government of India. IPPB was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1 September 2018.
- "The main aim of India Post Payments Bank is to remove barriers for the unbanked and underbanked and reach the last mile using the Postal network of 155,000 post offices, with 135,000 in rural areas, and 300,000 postal employees," the ministry stated.
