AICTE-Technical Book Writing and Translation Scheme is a Central Government scheme run by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under Ministry of Education. Scheme offers financial support and remuneration to faculty members, writers and translators for writing original technical books and translating them into scheduled regional languages. Applications for this scheme are accepted through offline mode by registered or speed post to AICTE headquarters in New Delhi.

Scheme supports building a strong knowledge base in regional languages so that technical students can study in their mother tongue. After National Education Policy 2020, AICTE started with writing books for 20 first year courses and later identified 88 second year courses across five main disciplines, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication and Civil Engineering, for original writing in English and translation in 12 Indian languages.

AICTE-Technical Book Writing and Translation Scheme - Introduction

Scheme grows the availability of high-quality educational material in scheduled regional languages. It helps researchers and educators create technical content that students can easily understand, which strengthens the regional knowledge base. Publishing technical books in local languages makes sure that students across different domains can grasp complex concepts in their own language.

Main aim is to encourage qualified writers to publish technical textbooks in scheduled regional languages, including Hindi, so that Indian technical education stays at par with global academic standards. Through this scheme, AICTE gives cash support to recognize the good work of distinguished faculty and subject matter experts. Applicants can also look at other AICTE schemes such as AICTE Pragati Scholarship Scheme for related help during the academic year.
