Maharashtra government is accepting online applications for Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Hostel Maintenance Allowance Scheme 2026 at the MahaDBT 2.0 portal. The scheme gives hostel maintenance allowance to medical and health science students whose family income is below Rs. 8,00,000, and to students whose parents are marginal land holders (Alpabhudharak Shetkari) or registered labourers.

Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) runs the scheme for students admitted to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BPTH, BOTH, B.Sc Nursing, BUMS, BP & O and BASLP courses in government, government-aided, corporation and private un-aided colleges in Maharashtra. Applications for the 2025-26 academic year, along with re-apply for 2023-24 and 2024-25, are open till 30 June 2026.

STEP 1 - Go to the official MahaDBT 2.0 portal at mahadbt2.maharashtra.gov.in and click on the college student section.

STEP 2 - If you are a new applicant, complete the registration on the portal using your mobile number and Aadhaar details. Existing students can directly make login.

STEP 3 - Select Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Hostel Maintenance Allowance from the list of schemes under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research.

STEP 4 - Fill in the application form with personal, academic and hostel details, and upload the required documents.

STEP 5 - Recheck all the details and submit the form. Keep the application number safe for tracking the status on the portal.

Benefits of Maharashtra Panjabrao Deshmukh Scheme for Hostel Fee

The allowance amount depends on the family income and the location of the institute. The updated benefit details are given below.

• For students whose parents are registered labourers or Alpabhudharak Shetkari (marginal land holders): Rs. 30,000 per year for institutes in MMRDA, PMRDA, Aurangabad City and Nagpur City, and Rs. 20,000 per year for institutes in other areas (for 10 months in an academic year).
• For students with family annual income up to Rs. 1,00,000: Rs. 10,000 per year for institutes in MMRDA, PMRDA, Aurangabad City and Nagpur City, and Rs. 8,000 per year for institutes in other areas (for 10 months in an academic year).
• For students with family annual income up to Rs. 8,00,000: Rs. 10,000 per year for institutes in MMRDA, PMRDA, Aurangabad City and Nagpur City, and Rs. 8,000 per year for institutes in other areas. Only 500 such candidates are selected per district on merit basis.

Eligibility Criteria for Panjabrao Deshmukh Hostel Fee Scheme

Students who meet the following conditions can apply for the Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Hostel Maintenance Allowance Scheme 2026.

• Applicant must be an Indian national and a domicile of Maharashtra state.
• Students who have taken admission under OPEN (EBC and EWS) and SEBC category are eligible.
• Candidate must be admitted through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP).
• Not applicable for deemed university students and students pursuing admission through management quota or institute level.
• Students whose parents are Alpabhudharak Shetkari (marginal land holders) or registered labourers, or whose family annual income is not more than Rs. 1 lakh, or not more than Rs. 8 lakhs (maximum 500 candidates per district on merit basis).
• Minimum 50% attendance in the previous semester is required, except for fresh students.
• During the course duration, the candidate should not have a gap of 2 or more than 2 years.
• Students must have taken hostel admission. In case of private hostel or paying guest, an agreement with the owner is required.
