Delhi Building and Construction Workers Health Scheme 2026

Delhi government has approved the Delhi Building and Construction Workers Health Scheme for registered construction workers and their families. Under this scheme, workers get cashless treatment up to ₹2 lakh per worker and up to ₹10 lakh per family. Around 2.70 lakh registered workers and nearly 10 lakh family members will be covered under this health cover.

The scheme also includes annual health check-ups and emergency healthcare support for workers and their eligible dependents. This is a major step for the welfare of the construction workforce in the national capital.

Delhi Rs. 5000 Scheme for Construction Workers (Earlier Relief Payments)

The Rs. 5,000 payment to construction workers was a one-time relief amount given by the Delhi government during the COVID-19 lockdown and during the pollution-related ban on construction activities. It was not a regular monthly scheme. The amount was deposited directly into the bank accounts of registered construction workers through DBT mode.

In November 2022, the then Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal directed the Labour Minister to provide Rs. 5,000 each to around 10 lakh registered workers due to the pollution-related ban on construction activities in Delhi. Around Rs. 500 crores was spent on this support. Earlier, in April 2022, the government had also released Rs. 350 crores to compensate workers for the winter construction ban.

These were one-time relief payments linked to specific events.
