Nijut Moina first installment released on 15 October

Nijut Babu, the scheme for boys, paid ₹10.37 crore to 1,02,501 students. Of these, 1,01,273 are in graduation and 1,228 in post-graduation. Last year the scheme covered about 49,000 boys.
Name missing or money not received
Check your bank SMS or passbook first, since the amount is sent by DBT and no separate status portal has been announced. If your name is not in the beneficiary list, the Chief Minister said you can file a complaint at your own school or college, and the institution will take it to the department.
Monthly amount under Nijut Moina 2026-27
Revised guidelines for Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina 2.0 cut the higher secondary amount to ₹800 a month. Money is paid for up to 10 months a year, and nothing is paid in June, July or other vacation months.
- Class 11 and 12 girls get ₹800 a month, or ₹8,000 in a year.
- Graduation students get ₹1,250 a month, or ₹12,500 in a year.
- Post-graduation and B.Ed students get ₹2,500 a month, or ₹25,000 in a year.
- Polytechnic students get ₹800 a month in the first two years and ₹1,250 in the third year.
- Boys under Nijut Babu get ₹1,000 a month in graduation and ₹2,000 in post-graduation.
In 2025-26, the first installment went out between 10 and 15 October 2025 to about 4.3 lakh girls. This year the number of girls went past 4.39 lakh.
Who gets the money
Only students whose applications were checked and approved by their institution in August and September 2026 are part of this payment. The main conditions under the Nijut Moina guidelines are below.
- The student must be a permanent resident of Assam and study in a government, provincialised or approved venture institution. Private institutions are not covered.
- Nijut Moina is open to girls from all income groups, but married girls qualify only for post-graduation and B.Ed courses.
- Nijut Babu is only for boys from families earning below ₹4 lakh a year who are admitted under the fee waiver scheme.
- Students must keep at least 70 percent attendance to keep getting the monthly amount.
- Students who take a scooter under Pragyan Bharati Scheme or PG support under CM Jibon Prerana Scheme are left out. Daughters of Ministers, MPs and MLAs are also not eligible.

Will nursing students get Nijut Moina?
Not this year. The Chief Minister said the government will try to add ANM, GNM and B.Sc Nursing girls, along with more universities, from next year.
Can a student take both Nijut Moina and the fee waiver?
