Snehapoorvam Scheme 2026-27 offers monthly financial support to orphaned children in Kerala who live with relatives, guardians, or community members instead of in orphanages. Applications for the new academic year are expected to open in October 2026 through the E-SURAKSHA portal of the Kerala Social Security Mission.
The scheme helps children who have lost one or both parents stay in a family environment while getting money for food, health, and school needs. Based on the class of the child, the monthly amount ranges from ₹300 to ₹1,000, and the whole process is handled through schools and colleges, so families do not have to visit many government offices.
Snehapoorvam Scheme - Introduction
Snehapoorvam Scheme is run by the Social Justice Department and implemented by the Kerala Social Security Mission (KSSM). Many children in the state end up in orphanages even when relatives are willing to take care of them, mainly because families struggle with money after the loss of the main earner. Through this scheme, the government gives direct cash support so that these children can grow up in their own homes.
The scheme continues for the 2026-27 academic year. For the previous year, online applications were collected from 27 October 2025 to 31 December 2025, and a similar cycle is expected for 2026-27. The main aims of the scheme are:
- Identify orphaned children living in the community who need support, and give top priority to those in the most need.
- Protect children by strengthening family bonds, so they stay with relatives instead of moving to institutions.
- Improve nutrition, education, and social support for at-risk children through regular monthly payment.
- Provide direct money help for education from lower primary classes up to degree and professional courses.

STEP 1 - Get the application form from the school or college, or download it from the official website, and fill it along with the required documents.
STEP 2 - Submit the filled form and the required documents to the head of the school or college before the deadline. For 2025-26, the last online submission date was 31 December 2025, and a similar schedule is expected for 2026-27.
STEP 3 - The head of the institution logs in to the E-SURAKSHA portal using the school or college login details. New institutions have to complete the registration first.
STEP 4 - After entering the student, guardian, and bank account details, the head of the institution verifies the data and submits the application to the Kerala Social Security Mission. The signed letter to KSSM is then sent to the regional office.
Note - For children below 5 years of age, the guardian submits the application directly to the Executive Director, Kerala Social Security Mission, through the local Child Welfare Committee.
