Madhya Pradesh government is running Aawaas Sahayata scheme for tribal students who move away from their hometown for higher studies. Under this scheme, students who could not get a seat in a government hostel get monthly money to pay for their accommodation.
Students living in divisional headquarters like Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Ujjain get ₹2,000 per month. Students in other district headquarters get ₹1,250 per month, and those staying in tehsil or development block headquarters get ₹1,000 per month. Support is given for up to 12 months in a year.
Aawaas Sahayata - Introduction
Department of Tribal Affairs, Government of Madhya Pradesh launched Aawaas Sahayata in 2016 under government order number F 12-06/2013/25-2/1860 dated 23 December 2016. The scheme helps tribal boys and girls who take admission in college or higher level courses outside their hometown but do not get hostel accommodation. Instead of letting hostel availability decide whether a student can study, the department gives money to arrange a place to stay.
Students who pass Class 12 from a government or recognized non-government college and take regular admission in graduate, graduate diploma, technical or paramedical courses can apply. The scheme is for students whose family income stays within the limit fixed under the Post Matric Scholarship scheme.

Benefits
Main benefit of the scheme is the monthly cash support for accommodation. The amount depends on the headquarters where the student stays on rent, not on the location of the college.
Students staying in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur or Ujjain divisional headquarters get ₹2,000 per month. Those staying in any other district headquarters get ₹1,250 per month. Students living at tehsil or development block headquarters get ₹1,000 per month. This money is paid for 12 months.
If the actual rent is higher than the fixed amount, the student has to pay the extra money on own. No other housing facility is given by the department apart from this support. Students who fail or whose exam results are held back are not eligible in the next year.
