NITI Aayog, part of Central government, runs Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) to support women entrepreneurs across India, and online registration remains open at wep.gov.in. NITI Aayog held the 5th Steering Committee Meeting of WEP on 24 March 2026 in New Delhi, where members decided to deepen engagement with states and link the scheme more closely with National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) to reach women in rural areas.

Odisha became the latest state to launch its own WEP chapter. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi launched the state unit during Udyami Odisha MSME Programme in Bhubaneswar in June 2026, along with International MSME Day celebrations. Scheme was first launched by NITI Aayog on International Women's Day in 2018, built on 3 pillars - Iccha Shakti, Gyan Shakti and Karma Shakti - and it still runs on the same base even as new states and partners keep joining in 2026.

WEP Registration as Entrepreneur

STEP 1 - Visit official website at wep.gov.in.

STEP 2 - On homepage, click "Register" tab present on right side of the page.

WEP 2026 Update - Steering Committee and State Chapters

WEP Steering Committee met for the 5th time on 24 March 2026 in New Delhi to review progress and decide next steps for the platform. Members talked about moving beyond pilot level work and setting clearer, outcome based targets to track how many women entrepreneurs actually benefit. Reaching women in rural areas came up as a top priority, with closer ties to National Rural Livelihood Mission seen as important for last mile access.

Following this, Odisha launched a dedicated WEP state chapter in June 2026 during Udyami Odisha MSME Programme in Bhubaneswar, held alongside International MSME Day. This state level rollout is expected to continue in other states through 2026, so women entrepreneurs get support closer to where they live and work, not just through the central portal.
