NITI Aayog, part of Central government, runs Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) to support women entrepreneurs across India, and online registration remains open at wep.gov.in. NITI Aayog held the 5th Steering Committee Meeting of WEP on 24 March 2026 in New Delhi, where members decided to deepen engagement with states and link the scheme more closely with National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) to reach women in rural areas.

Odisha became the latest state to launch its own WEP chapter. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi launched the state unit during Udyami Odisha MSME Programme in Bhubaneswar in June 2026, along with International MSME Day celebrations. Scheme was first launched by NITI Aayog on International Women's Day in 2018, built on 3 pillars - Iccha Shakti, Gyan Shakti and Karma Shakti - and it still runs on the same base even as new states and partners keep joining in 2026.

Pillars of Women Entrepreneurship Platform

NITI Aayog built WEP to raise the number of women entrepreneurs across country and help create a stronger "New India". Portal runs on 3 pillars, listed below.

  1. Ichha Shakti - This part helps aspiring women entrepreneurs start their own business or enterprise.
  2. Gyaan Shakti - This deals with giving proper knowledge and support system to help women entrepreneurs build their entrepreneurship skills.
  3. Karma Shakti - This gives hands on support to women entrepreneurs in setting up and growing their businesses.

Focus Areas of WEP Services

WEP hosts information and services relevant to women entrepreneurs as an aggregator platform. Portal brings in partners to offer content, workshops, campaigns and other learning avenues from experts in the industry. Services are grouped under 6 main focus areas given below.

  • Community and Networking - WEP builds a strong network of women entrepreneurs through community features on the website and offline networking events, so members get support, learning and collaboration in one place.
  • Funding and Financial Support - WEP treats funding as a key problem area for women entrepreneurs who want to launch or grow a venture in India, and its partners give advice on equity, debt, relevant schemes and grants.
  • Incubation and Acceleration - Women entrepreneurs who want faster growth for their startups can join incubation and acceleration programs run by WEP partners, which help build skills needed to scale up.
  • Compliance and Tax Support - WEP partner organisations offer compliance help so registered users can follow relevant laws, register their enterprises, file accounts, apply for loans and get IPR or licence guidance.
  • Entrepreneur Skilling and Mentorship - WEP partners run entrepreneurial and management courses to build skills for innovation, project planning, people management and risk handling, with mentors guiding members through the process.
  • Marketing Support - WEP connects entrepreneurs to programs that help market and position products and services through different channels, so early stage and established businesses both get better reach.

WEP Service Partners

WEP works within a wider framework of industry cooperation and partnerships. Some partners and the support they give are listed below.

  • CRISIL - Gives credit evaluation support for women led startups.
  • Mann Deshi Foundation - Works on digital and financial literacy for women entrepreneurs.
  • Other Corporates - Industry bodies like NASSCOM, CII, FICCI, SIDBI and Meta (Facebook) also work with WEP to support business acceleration, mentorship and other startup needs.

WEP 2026 Update - Steering Committee and State Chapters

WEP Steering Committee met for the 5th time on 24 March 2026 in New Delhi to review progress and decide next steps for the platform. Members talked about moving beyond pilot level work and setting clearer, outcome based targets to track how many women entrepreneurs actually benefit. Reaching women in rural areas came up as a top priority, with closer ties to National Rural Livelihood Mission seen as important for last mile access.

Following this, Odisha launched a dedicated WEP state chapter in June 2026 during Udyami Odisha MSME Programme in Bhubaneswar, held alongside International MSME Day. This state level rollout is expected to continue in other states through 2026, so women entrepreneurs get support closer to where they live and work, not just through the central portal.

Eligibility for WEP Registration

Any woman entrepreneur who is an Indian citizen can register on WEP, whether the business is just an idea, a new startup or an already running enterprise. Basic registration only needs a mobile number or email ID. Deeper services like funding guidance or compliance support may ask for extra business details later, depending on which partner service is chosen.

The three pillar - iccha sakti, gyan sakti, karma sakti undoubtedly are the main and main and the only power to achieve but it is well known but satisfactory results are not there. Only reason is we were unable to show the source of outcome of these 3 saktis and the mechanism of utilisation of these saktis. So be careful to get the results.
