Nashamukt Gram Panchayat Puraskar Yojana 2026 Details

Idea behind this award is simple. Instead of only running awareness camps from the top, the state gives villages a reason to work on de-addiction themselves. In June 2022, then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced from a public platform that a drug free village would get ₹2 lakh. That announcement was widely reported by news portals, but the published rules of 2018 still show ₹1,00,000 as the award amount. So the safe position for 2026 is ₹1 lakh as per the notified rules, and panchayats should confirm the current amount with their district Social Justice office before applying.

One more point worth knowing. This is a yearly award, not a monthly benefit or a loan. There is no fixed online application window announced for 2026 so far. Panchayats collect their proof of work through the year and submit a file whenever the district Collector calls for entries, usually a few weeks before Republic Day.

Application Process for Gram Panchayats

Whole process is offline and record based. A panchayat cannot just claim that the village is drug free, it has to show papers, photos, school records and news cuttings. Steps below explain what the Sarpanch and Panchayat Secretary need to do.

STEP 1 - Prepare a proper file of all de-addiction work done in the village during the previous year. Keep meeting registers, photos of awareness camps, school activity records and any support taken from health staff in the same file.

STEP 2 - Get a written certification showing that 100 percent of the village population has moved away from liquor, tobacco and other intoxicants. This has to cover every village that falls under the panchayat, not just the main one.

STEP 3 - Attach proof of action taken under Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003, such as removal of tobacco sale near schools and action reports of local staff.

STEP 4 - Attach treatment records of habitual addicts who were sent to a recognised De-addiction cum Rehabilitation Centre, and copies of newspaper or magazine reports covering the village.

STEP 5 - Submit the complete file at the Office of the Collector of your district. Keep one copy with the panchayat and take a receiving stamp on your covering letter.

STEP 6 - Collector office checks the records within about one month and sends the shortlisted case to the selection committee. Committee includes the Collector, District Education Officer and a social worker, and it picks one winning panchayat for the district.

Who Can Apply

Rules are strict on the drug free part, so a partial claim will not pass at the district check. A panchayat should match all the points given below before spending time on paperwork.

• Gram Panchayat must be located inside Madhya Pradesh and must be working with an elected body.
• Full village population under that panchayat should be free from liquor, tobacco and other intoxicants, and this must be certifiable on paper.
• Panchayat should have taken visible action under Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003 within its area.
• Habitual addicts of the village should have been treated at an authorised De-addiction cum Rehabilitation Centre, with records kept.
• Schools inside the panchayat area must be running regular anti drug awareness work with students.
• Work of the panchayat should be backed by local news coverage or published reports.

Benefits Given to Winning Panchayat

Award money goes to the Gram Panchayat account, not to any single person. Payment is released through cheque, bank draft or RTGS within one month of selection, and the panchayat can use it for village level work as per normal panchayat rules.

Apart from the cash, the panchayat gets a Certificate of Appreciation in the Republic Day function at the district headquarters. Travel cost of the Sarpanch for attending that function is reimbursed by the Collector office. Public recognition also helps the village get attention in other rural schemes and health drives.
