Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board is running Labour Skill Training Scheme for registered construction workers and their family members, and applications keep opening through the labour department portal. Training under this scheme is free, and it covers workers aged 18 to 45 years along with their dependents aged 16 to 45 years.
Scheme started on 1 August 2018 under the labour department of Madhya Pradesh. As per the board, around 17.02 lakh construction workers are registered with it, and only registered workers can apply for board schemes like this one.
Labour Skill Training Scheme MPBOCWWB Details
Idea behind this scheme is simple. Most construction workers learn work on site, without any certificate. So their daily wage stays low and they get no proof of skill. Free training under the board gives them proper trade training and a certificate, which helps in getting better paid work in masonry, bar bending, plumbing, electrical work, painting and similar trades.
Family members are also covered, so a worker's son or daughter aged 16 to 45 years can take the training and start earning. There is no course fee for eligible people.
Apply Online for Labour Skill Training Scheme
Whole process runs through the labour department portal of Madhya Pradesh. If you are not yet registered as a construction worker, registration comes first, then the scheme application.
STEP 1 - Open the labour department portal at labour.mp.gov.in and go to the construction worker registration section of the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
STEP 2 - Click on the online registration page for beneficiaries and enter your Samagra Member ID and Samagra Family ID with the captcha to fetch your family details.
STEP 3 - Make sure the Aadhaar eKYC of your Samagra member ID is already done. Since 1 July 2023, new registration is allowed only for workers whose Samagra member ID has completed Aadhaar eKYC. An e-Shram UAN number is also required at the time of online application.
STEP 4 - Download the registration application format PDF, fill it, sign it and upload the scanned copy along with your other documents.
STEP 5 - Pay the registration charge of ₹15, which is ₹5 registration fee plus ₹10 contribution for five years, and submit the form. Save the registration number that the portal shows.
STEP 6 - After your registration is approved and the photo identity card is issued, log in on the same portal with your labour registration number and apply under the skill training scheme from the scheme application section.
Offline Process
Offline route is still open for people who find the online form hard. In rural areas the application goes to the Chief Executive Officer of the Janpad Panchayat, and in urban areas to the Commissioner or Chief Municipal Officer of the local body. Collect the form, fill it, attach self attested copies of documents and submit it. Take the receipt before leaving the office. Time limit fixed for registration or renewal service is 30 working days.

Who Can Apply
Two levels of eligibility work here. First you have to be a registered construction worker with the board, and then the age rule of the training scheme applies. Points below explain both parts.
- You should be a resident of Madhya Pradesh and should be working as a building or other construction worker in one of the 49 notified work categories such as mason, carpenter, painter, bar bender, plumber, electrician, welder or helper.
- Age for board registration has to be between 18 and 60 years, and you should have worked at least 90 days in construction work during the last 12 months. Self declaration of these 90 days is accepted.
- Aadhaar eKYC of your Samagra member ID must be complete, otherwise new registration will not go through.
- For the training benefit, a worker should be between 18 and 45 years and a dependent family member between 16 and 45 years.
- Registration has to stay live, so renew it on time to keep getting scheme benefits.
Documents Required
Keep soft copies ready before you sit for the online form, it saves a second visit to the kiosk.
- Samagra ID copy and Aadhaar card for identity, with eKYC done.
- Two passport size photographs of the applicant.
- First page copy of your own bank passbook for payment of benefits.
- Residence proof like voter ID, electricity bill, ration card or driving licence.
- Self signed or thumb marked certificate of 90 days of construction work.
- Age proof such as school certificate or birth certificate, and any earlier skill training certificate if you have one.
Status in 2026
Scheme is still listed under the board and the labour department portal is working, with the worker registration and scheme application pages live. No change in the age rules or the free training benefit has been notified so far in 2026. Main change over the last few years is on the registration side, where Aadhaar eKYC of Samagra ID and an e-Shram UAN have become required for new applications.

District level help is available from the Welfare Officer, Welfare Inspector or Contribution Recovery Officer of the labour department. If your registration form is rejected, first appeal goes to the Sub Divisional Officer (Revenue) in rural areas and to the Collector in city corporation areas, and it has to be decided in 30 working days.
