Scheme for Financial Assistance to Select States/UTs for Skill Development in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector gives financial support and industry-linked training to students and unemployed youth across the country. Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology runs this central scheme, and the target is to skill 90,000 people in the ESDM sector.
The scheme uses existing human resources by training students from Class 9 onwards, ITI students, polytechnic students, non-engineering graduates and unemployed youth. It helps participants pick up skills that the electronics industry values, encourages private investment in training and sets clear standards for course certification and institutional recognition.
Scheme for Financial Assistance to Select States/UTs for Skill Development in ESDM Sector
Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, launched this scheme to improve skilling capacity in the ESDM sector. It works in partnership with States and Union Territories and runs alongside a related scheme called Skill Development in ESDM for Digital India, which covers the rest of the country. Both schemes run at the same time.
Financial support is given only after a candidate clears the certification exam conducted by NIELIT or the relevant Sector Skill Council (SSC). This keeps the training quality high and makes sure the money is used for real skill building.
