Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Challenge (APEC) is the first stage of the Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Development Programme (APEDP). It identifies and supports local entrepreneurs with seed funding, expert mentorship from IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, and incubation support to help early-stage ventures grow within the state.
APEDP 5.0, the fifth edition for 2026-27, was launched by the state government in June 2026. Under this edition, 100 innovative startups receive seed funding support. The top 20 startups get up to ₹10 lakh each, while the next 80 startups get up to ₹8 lakh each. Applications were invited online through the Startup Arunachal portal, with the last date of 20 July 2026.
Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Challenge - Introduction
APEDP acts as a catalyst for local innovation by identifying, promoting, and nurturing sustainable business ideas. The IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) works as the knowledge partner for the programme. The challenge is the first step in this process, inviting applications from budding entrepreneurs and innovators of the state.
The programme is run in four stages: the challenge, pre-incubation, incubation, and the livelihood accelerator. Following a screening process, selected entrepreneurs move into the nine-month pre-incubation and incubation programmes. The aim is to help the youth of Arunachal Pradesh become job givers instead of job seekers and create livelihood opportunities for many others in the state.
Under APEDP 5.0, the state government has raised the seed funding support compared with earlier editions. The programme combines financial help with mentorship, pre-incubation support, livelihood acceleration, and incubation facilities to help startups reach their early milestones such as product development, market validation, and initial customer acquisition.
