Andhra Pradesh govt. runs the Post Matric Scholarship (MTF) scheme, earlier known as Jagananna Vasathi Deevena, to help students pay their hostel and mess charges. The scheme covers ITI, Polytechnic, Degree and higher courses, and the amount is credited directly to the bank account of the student's mother. Under the current TDP-led government, the scheme was renamed as Post Matric Scholarship MTF in June 2024, and applications are now handled through the Jnanabhumi portal.
The scheme aims to improve the Gross Enrolment Rate (GER), provide quality higher education, and make sure students continue in higher studies without money problems. More than 9.5 lakh mothers of students have been benefited from this scheme. The maintenance amount is paid in two equal installments every year.
