Delhi government runs Shramik Mitra Scheme to connect registered construction workers with welfare benefits such as pension, loans, marriage support, medical help and education assistance. Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (DBOCWWB) has waived registration and renewal fees for construction workers in 2026, which makes it easier for eligible workers to join the scheme and claim these benefits.

Shramik Mitra Scheme was launched by the state govt. of NCT of Delhi on 8 November 2021. It was started to make sure benefits of various welfare programmes reach every registered construction worker in the city. Around six lakh construction workers in Delhi have already registered with the Construction Board through registration campaigns held across the city.

What is Delhi Shramik Mitra Scheme 2026

Under Delhi Shramik Mitra Scheme, trained volunteers called Shramik Mitras reach out to construction workers directly at their worksites and homes. They inform workers about pension, loan, marriage, education and medical assistance schemes run through Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and help with registration.

Delhi government wants to connect unorganised sector workers with the relevant welfare schemes so that no eligible worker is left out. Shramik Mitras also help workers renew their membership on time, since benefits under the board are only available to workers with active, continuous registration.

How Shramik Mitras Help Construction Workers

Shramik Mitras enrolled under this scheme inform construction workers, who are already registered by the Construction Board at ward level, about assistance schemes of the government. They also guide new workers on completing Delhi Construction Workers Registration so they can start receiving board benefits without delay.

Registration and Fee Waiver in 2026

On Labour Day 2026, Delhi government announced a complete waiver of registration and renewal fees for construction workers under the board. This is meant to reduce the money burden on labour families and get more workers registered under welfare schemes. Workers who already hold an e-Shram card can use it as supporting proof while registering with the Construction Board.
