Haryana Silicosis Board has updated the Silicosis Rehabilitation Pension scheme with new benefits under the Haryana Pneumoconiosis Rehabilitation Policy. The monthly pension of ₹4,000 continues, and now eligible workers also get a one-time rehabilitation support of ₹5 lakh. The scheme, run by the Haryana Labour Welfare Board, covers workers diagnosed under ILO categories A, B, or C.

Silicosis is a chronic lung disease found mostly in stone crushers and mining sites. It has been recognized as a notifiable disease under the Factories Act of 1948 and the Building and Other Construction Workers Act of 1996. The new Pneumoconiosis Policy, which came into effect in 2026, has expanded coverage to include Asbestosis, Byssinosis, and Bagassosis along with Silicosis. Workers must have been employed in factories or construction sites in Haryana for at least 5 years to qualify.
