Uttar Pradesh government has opened SC-ST Pre Matric Scholarship for the 2026-27 academic year. SC and ST students studying in class 9 and 10 can apply online at scholarship.up.gov.in from August 11, 2026. This scholarship gives financial support so that students from these communities can continue their secondary education without money problems.
The scheme helps students with their educational expenses like tuition, books and other study needs. The benefit amount depends on the category of the student and whether they study as a day scholar or a hosteller. In the 2025-26 session, a very large number of students across Uttar Pradesh used this portal to register for the state scholarships.
For the 2026-27 session the whole application process is online through the UP Scholarship portal. One Time Registration (OTR) is now required before you can apply. This OTR uses your active mobile number and Aadhaar for e-KYC, and it makes sure that every student is registered only once for all the scholarship schemes on this portal.
Money is paid directly to the Aadhaar-linked bank account of the student through DBT payment. Students who are already getting this scholarship and are now in class 10 can also renew it during the renewal window which runs from August 11 to August 25, 2026.
SC-ST Pre Matric Scholarship 2026-27 Introduction
SC-ST Pre Matric Scholarship is run by the Department of Social Welfare in Uttar Pradesh. This scholarship supports students from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities who face money problems during their schooling. By making sure that students in class 9 and 10 get regular monetary support, this scheme helps young learners stay in school and focus on their studies without the stress of educational expenses. It works as a stepping stone for these students so that they can complete their matriculation and go for higher study options later.
