Tripura Industrial Investment Promotion Incentive (TIIPIS) supports new industrial units in the state with capital investment subsidies, power tariff subsidies and GST refunds. Launched by the Department of Industries and Commerce, the scheme runs under the 2022 incentive package and stays open for eligible new units that start commercial production on or before 31 March 2027.
Tripura Industrial Investment Promotion Incentive is a state-level scheme made for manufacturing units, service businesses and industrial infrastructure developers. It replaces the older incentive packages and gives higher support to units in the thrust sectors such as rubber, bamboo, agro and horticulture processing, and gas based units. The main aim is to bring more industry to the North-East and create local jobs.
Industrial Investment Promotion Incentive - Introduction
Tripura Industrial Investment Promotion Incentive gives businesses a clear path to lower setup and running costs. The scheme started on 1 April 2022 and is valid for five years, so new units that begin commercial production on or before 31 March 2027 can apply. The Department of Industries and Commerce runs the scheme and issues an Incentive Eligibility Certificate to approved units.
Support comes in many forms. A unit can get a capital investment subsidy, reimbursement of the GST it actually pays, a power tariff subsidy and help with employment costs. Units in the thrust sectors get higher subsidy rates than others. For very large projects with a fixed capital investment of ₹100 crore or more and employment above 100 people, special incentives are possible after a detailed appraisal.

Eligibility
The scheme is meant for new industrial units, not for units already in commercial production before the scheme started. A unit must apply for an Incentive Eligibility Certificate from the nodal authority to claim the benefits.
- The unit must be a new industrial unit that starts commercial production on or after 1 April 2022 and on or before 31 March 2027.
- Both manufacturing units and specified service or industrial infrastructure setups are covered, including large units and infrastructure developers.
- The unit must meet the definition of an eligible enterprise as per the scheme rules and must be located within Tripura.
- Units in the listed thrust sectors get higher subsidy rates, so the sector classification of the project matters.
- Large projects with a fixed capital investment of ₹100 crore and employment above 100 people may get special incentives after a detailed appraisal and approval.
Exclusions
Some businesses do not qualify for support under this scheme. Units that do not meet the definition of a new eligible enterprise, or that fail to secure the Incentive Eligibility Certificate, cannot claim the benefits. Businesses running illegal activities, ignoring environmental or health rules, or with a history of not meeting statutory tax and compliance requirements are not covered. Projects located in restricted government zones are also excluded.
