Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Scheme is a girl child welfare scheme run by the Government of NCT of Delhi. It came into force on 1 April 2026 and replaces the earlier Delhi Ladli Scheme that had been in place since 2008. The scheme gives phased money help to girl children from birth up to graduation.

Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Scheme - Overview
Department of Women and Child Development, Delhi, launched the scheme to improve the social status of girl children. It encourages them to continue their studies and gives long-term money safety. The rules were notified on 30 March 2026 and came into effect from 1 April 2026.
Objectives

Benefits
The scheme gives money in instalments at different stages of a girl's life. The full list of payments is given below.
- At birth: ₹11,000 is deposited. This is redeemable when the girl turns 18 or 21.
- School stages: ₹5,000 each on admission to Class 1, Class 6, Class 9, Class 11 (or Polytechnic and ITI after Class 10) and Class 12.
- Diploma: ₹10,000 for a 1 year diploma, ₹20,000 for a 2 year diploma and ₹20,000 for a 3 year diploma.
- Graduation: ₹20,000 for a 3 year degree and ₹25,000 for a 4 year degree.
Total instalments add up to ₹61,000. This amount is invested through an authorised banking partner and grows with interest. On maturity, the girl can get ₹1 lakh or more. The money is paid into the girl's Aadhaar linked bank account.
The benefit is non-transferable and non-refundable. Premature withdrawal and loans against the deposit are not allowed. The girl must remain unmarried until age 18 and complete the required immunization.
Eligibility
To apply for the scheme, the following conditions must be met.
- The girl child must be born in Delhi. A birth certificate issued by the Registrar (Births and Deaths) is required.
- The family must be a bonafide resident of NCT of Delhi for at least three years before the date of application.
- Total annual family income must not be more than ₹1,20,000.
- Benefit is limited to two girl children per family.
- The girl must be studying in a government, MCD, NDMC or government recognised school in Delhi. For higher education, the institution must be recognised by UGC or a government body anywhere in India.
- The girl must remain unmarried until age 18 and follow the required immunization schedule.
Institutional Care Exemptions
For girls living in government run or licensed Child Care Institutions (CCIs) in Delhi, where the State is the guardian, some rules are relaxed. The three year residence and family income conditions are waived. The birth place condition is also waived. The in-charge of the institution acts as the guardian. Aadhaar of the girl and the in-charge are both required.
Application Process
Application is made online through the dedicated official portal. Parents or guardians should apply within one year of the girl's birth, or within 90 days of admission at each stage.

STEP 2 - Click on Sign Up for Parent or Guardian and enter the mobile number and email to create an account.
STEP 3 - Log in to the portal using the mobile number and captcha.
STEP 4 - Fill in the personal, family and education details in the application form.
STEP 5 - Upload the required documents and submit the form before the deadline.

- Residence proof such as ration card, voter ID or other document showing at least 3 years stay in Delhi.
