Akhil Bharatiya Samanvit Anusandhan Pariyojana is a research-based scheme of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali University of Horticulture and Forestry for farmers of Uttarakhand. The scheme combines All India Coordinated Research Projects (AICRP) supported by ICAR and other agencies to study important horticultural and forestry species, save their germplasm, and provide farmers with improved seeds and saplings.

Scheme work is going on in Uttarakhand in the current financial year 2026-27. University teams keep studying vegetables, fruits, small millets, potato, medicinal and aromatic plants, and forest species, and pass on the results to farmers through good seeds, planting material and short training sessions.

This scheme is run from two campuses of the university: the College of Horticulture at Bharsar in Pauri Garhwal and the College of Hill Agriculture at Chirbatiya in Tehri Garhwal. Many AICRP projects are functional at both campuses with funding from ICAR, the Uttarakhand government and other agencies.

Farmers of Uttarakhand can use the research findings of these projects to raise their crop output. The scheme also helps farmers by giving them quality seeds and saplings and teaching them modern ways of cultivation.

Crops and Species Covered

The project covers many crops and plant groups that matter for the hills of Uttarakhand. These include:

  • Fruits and vegetables: improved varieties of common hill vegetables and temperate fruits are studied under ICAR AICRP projects.
  • Medicinal and aromatic plants: species like rosemary and wild lilies get special attention through model nurseries and multiplication trials.
  • Forest and nutrition crops: forest tree species, nut crops, bamboo and ringal are part of the conservation and planting material work.

Application Process

There is no online form or registration portal for this scheme. Farmers do not need to apply on any website to join the project. The project team, including Kisan Mitras, contacts farmers directly during different phases of the research work.

When new seeds or planting material are ready, the department shares the details through local extension channels, village meetings and community programmes. Farmers can also contact the university campus or the district horticulture office for guidance.

Documents

Farmers should keep their basic farmer identification documents ready as per the standard project rules. These documents are mainly used for the checking process when seeds, saplings or training support are given to farmers.
