One Stop Centre Scheme 2026 Guidelines are available to download in PDF format on the official website of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. One Stop Centres (OSCs) are meant to support women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces, within the family, community and at the workplace. Women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, irrespective of age, class, caste, education status, marital status, race and culture, get support and redressal under one roof.
Aggrieved women facing any kind of violence due to attempted sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, trafficking, honour related crimes, acid attacks or witch-hunting, who have reached out or been referred to the OSC, are provided with specialized services. The scheme has been running since 1 April 2015 and is now part of the Mission Shakti umbrella under the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
One Stop Centre Scheme 2026
The main aims of the One Stop Centre Scheme are as follows:
- To provide integrated support and support to women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces, under one roof.
- To help immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services including medical, legal, psychological and counselling support under one roof to fight against any forms of violence against women.
Services Provided at One Stop Centre
Each One Stop Centre brings together many services in a single place so that a woman in distress does not have to run from one office to another. The centre offers medical help, legal help and advice, temporary shelter, police assistance, and psychological and counselling support. Around 769 One Stop Centres are functional across the country.
A woman survivor can stay at the centre for a maximum period of 5 days. Her children can also stay with her, including girls of all ages and boys up to 12 years of age. In case girls below 18 years are referred to the centre, they are provided services in coordination with authorities set up under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, 2012.
