Haryana government runs Khel Nursery Yojana as a regular sports scheme under which sports nurseries are set up in schools, gram panchayats and private educational institutions across the state. For the 2026-27 academic session, the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs invited online applications for the allocation of these nurseries through the official Nursery Management System.

The scheme is meant to grow sports at the grassroot level and groom young talent in the state. Sports nurseries are opened only for the disciplines included in the Olympic, Asian and Commonwealth Games. The online application process for Haryana Khel Nursery Yojana is simple and is done through the official portal. The steps are given below.

STEP 1 - Visit the official website of Haryana Sports Department at haryanasports.gov.in and open the Sports Nursery page.

STEP 2 - On the Sports Nursery page, click the "Registration for Sports Nursery" link. This opens the Nursery Management System at khelnurseryharyana.in.

STEP 3 - Enter the mobile number on the Nursery Management System login page and complete the login to register.

STEP 4 - Fill in the details of the institution, select the game for which the nursery is sought, and upload the required documents.

STEP 5 - Submit the application before the last date and keep a copy of the acknowledgement for future reference.

Haryana Khel Nursery Yojana - Terms and Conditions

The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Haryana, runs the scheme of setting up Khel Nurseries in schools. The following terms and conditions apply for Haryana Khel Nursery Yojana.

• Government and private High Schools and Senior High Schools are eligible to apply. A school will not be allotted more than two khel nurseries.
• The school should have the playground, court or hall and other facilities of the game for which the sports nursery is applied.
• The school allotted a sports nursery has to conduct a sports and physical aptitude test for the students under the supervision of the District Sports and Youth Affairs Officer (DSYAO) in the age group of 8 to 19 years.
• Khel nurseries can be opened in sports disciplines played in the Olympic Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games or National Games and the corresponding Para tournaments.
• 25 students will be selected by the school for the nursery based on the test, and another 25 will be kept in the waiting list. If a trainee leaves the nursery, the vacancy is filled from the waiting list in order of seniority. If the number of trainees falls below 20 at any time, the nursery will be closed.
• Attendance of the players and coaches will be marked by the school regularly.
• The school will provide the sports kit to the selected trainees and players.
• Students have to attend coaching in the khel nursery for at least 22 days in a month to be entitled to scholarship or diet money.
• Sportspersons have to stay away from drugs and anti-social activities and maintain strict discipline.
• The DSYAO will regularly inspect and monitor the nurseries and make sure the funds are spent as per the scheme.
• The Sports Department reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship or honorarium in case of any violation.

Scholarship and Diet Money in Haryana Sports Nursery Scheme

Scholarship and diet money is paid to the students under Haryana Khel Nursery Yojana as follows.

• Rs. 1500 per month per player in the age group of 8 to 14 years.
• Rs. 2000 per month per player in the age group of 15 to 19 years.

The scholarship and diet money is paid by the DSYAO into the bank accounts of the student trainees on a monthly basis, after the school submits the details of the student, father's name, date of birth, Aadhaar number and mobile number along with an attested copy of the attendance registers.

Honorarium to Coaches under Haryana Khel Nursery Yojana

Under Haryana Khel Nursery Yojana, honorarium to coaches is given as follows.

• Rs. 25000 per month for coaching diploma holders from NIS Patiala or any institute recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports as equal to NIS Patiala.
• Rs. 20000 per month for M.P.Ed, D.P.Ed, M.A. (Physical Education) or NIS Certificate Course in coaching. In this case, the person must also be a national player in the concerned game.

The honorarium to the coach is paid by the school into the coach's bank account. It is then reimbursed into the account of the school by the DSYAO, on submission of an application by the school along with the receipt obtained from the coach regarding payment of the honorarium.

Coach Selection in Haryana Sports Nurseries Scheme

The coach is engaged by the school. The qualification of the selected coach is checked by the school with the concerned DSYAO. The role of the DSYAO is only to make sure that a qualified coach is engaged by the school as per the qualifications mentioned in the terms and conditions.

Reimbursement of Expenses on Sports Equipment and Consumables

Up to Rs. 1.00 lakh per year is reimbursed to the school for expenses on sports equipment and consumables. The purchase is supervised by the Deputy Commissioner or his representatives. The amount is paid by the DSYAO into the bank account of the school after physical verification of the items and examination of the vouchers, on submission of an application by the school with full details of the expenditure.
