Haryana Free Tablet Scheme 2026 is a scheme for government school students in the state. Under this Haryana e-Adhigam Yojana, the state government provides free tablets to students of classes 8 to 12 in government schools. The tablets come with pre-loaded content, digital books, video lectures and adaptive learning software. In 2026, the Nayab Singh Saini government has decided to relaunch the scheme with fresh SIM cards and free data so that the devices can be used again for online learning.
Around 5 lakh tablets were first distributed to students of classes 10 and 12 in 2022. After some time, the devices went offline because the SIM cards stopped working and many schools did not have internet connections. Now the state government is working on a new plan to give the tablets back to students with free SIM cards and 1 GB data every month.

The Haryana government launched the e-Adhigam Scheme on 5th May 2022 from Rohtak. Nearly three lakh tablets were distributed to government school students of classes 10 and 12 on the first day. A new security software will also be loaded on the devices so that students can only use study material and not entertainment apps.
Students who have left school or failed in the exam will have to return the tablets, and these will be given to students of the new academic session.
Launch of Tablet Distribution Scheme in Haryana
The tablet distribution function was held on 5th May 2022 at the Tagore Auditorium of Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak. In other districts, ministers, MPs, MLAs, other guests, along with the Deputy Commissioner and district administration distributed tablets.
Now the current Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has decided to bring the scheme back. Before taking this decision, eight HCS officers visited government schools in different districts and checked the digital facilities. They spoke with teachers, students and parents and took their suggestions. Based on this survey report, the government is going to make the Rs 700 crore investment fully effective.
Objectives of Haryana Free Tablet Yojana
The main aim of the e-Adhigam scheme is to help students of government schools get digital education. Tablets and data are tools for the students that help them learn the skills of the 21st century and open new opportunities at national and international level. Through this scheme, a student of Haryana can become a global student.
During Covid, many parents did not have enough to get their child online. This scheme is filling that gap through e-learning. It will be a useful step for online education for most of the students studying in government schools, especially those who are unable to buy devices like smartphones and tablets.

How Students Get the Tablets
The tablets are not given through an online application. Schools automatically identify the eligible students and distribute the devices directly. Students should check with their school authorities for the details of tablet distribution and eligibility.
Why the Tablets Were Taken Back
For the past few months, the tablets were taken back from students and kept in school cupboards. The main reason was that the SIM cards stopped working and internet connections were not available in most schools. Without internet, students could not use the tablets for video lectures, digital work or online resources. In many schools, the classrooms returned to traditional chalk and board teaching.
Some tablets also developed technical problems such as broken screens and poor battery performance. In the new plan, the government will repair the faulty tablets and give them to students with new SIM cards and free data.
