Telangana Chenetha Bima Scheme 2024 Launch
Minister for Handlooms and Textiles K Taraka Rama Rao has reiterated that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s (KCR) announcement regarding extending TS Chenetha Bhima, an insurance scheme for weavers similar to Rythu Bhima. This Telangana Chenetha Bima would cover all handloom as well as power weavers across the state.
Centres are being constructed at a cost of Rs. 10 crore would not only help the Telangana govt. to train weavers, but would also help them produce and market their products. TS govt. led by CM KCR had come to rescue handloom weavers by releasing Rs. 96 crore during the pandemic under Chenethaku Cheyutha initiative. Moreover, Telangana was the only state giving 50% subsidy to weavers for purchase of raw materials.
Mission of TS Chenetha Bheema Scheme
In order to ensure the economic and social security to the power / handloom weavers, the Government of Telangana has conceptualized and implementing an innovative scheme named as Waevers Group Life Insurance Scheme (Chenetha Bima) in addition to other initiatives in handloom / power sector. This scheme is first of its kind and unique in the country as it is implemented based on weaver-wise online data base through Information Technology and Online Portals and MIS that are being used by all the outreach officers for effective and efficient implementation.
Objectives of Telangana Chenetha Bhima Scheme
The main objective of the Weavers Group Life Insurance Scheme (Chenetha Bima), is to provide financial relief and social security to the family members/ dependents, in case of loss of weaver’s life due to any reason. In the event of the loss of the weaver life, their families are facing severe financial problems even for their day-to-day needs.

As the TS Chenetha Bima scheme has just been launched, its modalities and implementation process are being worked it. Who are Eligible to Make Chenetha Bheema Registration
The weavers Group Life Insurance Scheme ensures financial security and relief to the bereaved members of the weaver’s family. Weavers in the age group of 18 to 59 years are eligible for enroll under the scheme.

The entire premium is paid by the government to the Life Insurance Corporation of India (Largest public sector PSU for Insurance in India).
TS Chenetha Bhima Amount
In the event of the death of the enrolled weaver due to any cause including natural death, the insured amount of 5.00 Lakhs INR (Approx. USD 6928) is deposited into the designated nominee account within (10) days. This scheme has a tremendous impact on the lives of the bereaved families and helping their livelihoods, since most of them are resource poor handloom / power weavers and belong to weaker sections of the society.
Implementation of TS Chenetha Bima Scheme
TS Chenetha Bheema scheme has been implemented through the Information Technology with development of Online Portals and MIS developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC). The uniqueness of this scheme is that, the nominee is not required to approach any office for the settlement of claim amount. The outreach officers collects data in the event of loss of life of any weaver and submitted to the LIC on behalf of designated nominee of the weaver. The claimed amount would be transferred through RTGS into nominees account.
