Karnataka government runs RTE admission every year under Right to Education Act, 2009, reserving 25 percent seats in private unaided schools for children from poor and disadvantaged families. For 2026-27 academic year, online application window ran from April 21 to May 17, 2026, and first round lottery result came out on May 25, 2026.

Enrollment for selected candidates under first round continued from May 26 to June 8, 2026 at schooleducation.karnataka.gov.in portal. Parents of children admitted under this quota did not have to pay any fee for reserved seat, and department released more rounds wherever seats remained vacant.

RTE Karnataka 2026-27 Online Application Process

Karnataka government has moved RTE admission fully online, and application now has to be filed at official portal schooleducation.karnataka.gov.in, not at old address schooleducation.kar.nic.in which is no longer in use. Below is process which parents followed for 2026-27 admission, and department usually repeats similar steps every year.

STEP 1 - Go to official website at schooleducation.karnataka.gov.in and click on 'New Registration' link given under RTE admission section on homepage.

STEP 2 - Enter child's name, date of birth, parent's mobile number and other basic details asked in registration form.

STEP 3 - Complete mobile verification through OTP, then set a password to get unique application ID needed for login later.

STEP 4 - Login again using created credentials and fill RTE application form carefully, selecting class and up to three preferred schools from list shown as per home address.

STEP 5 - Scan and upload required documents in prescribed format and size, then submit form. Keep a printout or PDF copy of submitted application safe for future reference.

RTE Karnataka Admission Age Limit 2026-27

Age limit rules for RTE Karnataka 2026-27 admission were fixed as below, and department usually keeps similar limits every year with small changes in cut off date.

  • LKG Admission - Age of child should be minimum 4 years and maximum 6 years as on cut off date fixed in official notification.
  • Class 1 Admission - Age of child should be minimum 6 years and maximum 8 years as on cut off date fixed in official notification.

Documents Required for RTE Karnataka Admission

Parents need to keep these documents ready in scanned form before starting online application, since incomplete or mismatched documents can lead to rejection during verification.

  • Birth certificate of child as valid age proof, since any mismatch in date of birth can lead to application getting rejected.

Selected candidates get allotment letter through portal itself, and school cannot deny admission once a genuinely eligible candidate's seat gets confirmed in lottery.

Hi I had appllied for the rte for my daughter for 1 st std who is 6 years 4 month . And waited for the results and after the secound round result is also come when I check it with application number it say the seat is not allotted in the second round also .
