Him Data Portal is the open data platform of Himachal Pradesh government, launched by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on 12 May 2023. The portal brings together data from all state government departments on a single digital platform so that welfare schemes reach eligible people on time. Today the portal is fully live at himdataportal.com and works as the main data source for the state's benefit delivery system. This article explains the details of Him Data Portal, its working, and how it connects with the Him Parivar project.

Access to correct data is a key part of making good policies and running schemes well. With the use of information technology and the data available on Him Data Portal, eligible people can get benefits at the right time. Him Data website is a common digital platform that brings together data of all organisations for the delivery of welfare schemes and better public service.

About Him Data Portal

Him Data Portal makes sure that all state government agencies work together, connect and respond to the needs of the public more easily by using accurate and real-time data. It is a one-stop platform that gives easy access to more than 200 datasets with state-specific information available down to block and village level. Users can view the data in different forms like bar, line, pie, table, scatter and map, and can also download the complete data.

The portal follows the FAIR principles of Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability and Reusability. Data in the public domain and from government sources is free to use and read. Users can merge datasets using local directory codes for better analysis, upload their own datasets to view on the portal, and download full data. The portal was developed with the Indian School of Business (ISB) as the knowledge partner, in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology, Government of Himachal Pradesh.

Chief Minister said that a good government needs good governance, and data and technology drive the agenda of good governance with better outcomes. Him Data Portal brings valuable data from many domains of different departments together, which helps in seeing patterns, gaps, opportunities and connections clearly. This strengthens efficiency in governance. The portal also helps in giving operators insights into critical parts of a transaction, smart recovery process and connected system outages, which benefits both the government and the public.

Him Parivar Project

From July 2023, the Himachal Pradesh government started the Him Parivar project, which gives a special digital identity to the people of the state. Under this, every family and every member gets a unique identification number. This strengthens the state's benefit delivery systems by linking digital identity to the delivery of benefits to the eligible population. Information about essential facilities like ration cards, family registers, electricity, drinking water and more is available with a single click through the Him Parivar platform.

Him Parivar is now a fully working online platform at himparivar.hp.gov.in. It gives access to government services and benefits made for Himachal Pradesh residents. The platform includes Aadhaar-based login, eParivar, family register, and single sign-on (SSO) services. Ongoing surveys on the platform include Urban Family Survey, Farmer Database Survey, BOC Workers Survey, HPSEBL Survey and Land Record Survey. In April 2026, the state government made Aadhaar-based authentication required for getting benefits under digital citizen service schemes run through Him Parivar and Him Access platforms.

Chief Minister added that in the next 10 years, Himachal would be the most prosperous state of the country. This collaboration will go a long way in improving the socio-economic growth of the state. The most important asset of the 21st century is data and the timely collection of correct information. As data integration creates a path toward the joining of systems, it also improves overall efficiency and saves time, as users remove search time and manual errors that come from data transfer and handling.
