Natural Farming Mission Guidelines 2026: PDF Download, Incentive and Farmer Registration PDF

National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) is a central government scheme that encourages farmers to grow crops without chemical fertilizer and purchased chemical inputs. The Union Cabinet approved the mission on 25 November 2024 with a total outlay of ₹2,481 crore. Of this, central government share is ₹1,584 crore and the states' share is ₹897 crore.

Natural Farming Mission guidelines are available to download in PDF format at the official website naturalfarming.dac.gov.in. This page covers the NMNF rules, farmer incentive, eligibility and the way farmers get enrolled in the mission. You can also see the earlier naturalfarming.dac.gov.in portal farmer registration process for reference.

About Natural Farming Mission

Natural farming is a chemical-free method of farming built on desi cow dung, cow urine and locally available materials from the farm. It is rooted in Indian tradition and uses on-farm inputs like Beejamrut, Jeevamrujit, Ghan Jeevamrut, Neemastra and Dashparni for soil care and plant protection. Biomass mulching, live mulching, multi-cropping systems and pre-monsoon dry sowing are also central to this method.

NMNF is the scaled up version of Bhartiya Prakritik Krishi Paddhati (BPKP), which earlier ran as a component of Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY). From 2024-25, this component works as a separate national mission. The scheme also supports the wider goal of cutting chemical fertilizer use, similar to how the PM PRANAM Scheme works.

The mission will run in 15,000 clusters located in willing Gram Panchayats. Each cluster covers roughly 125 farmers in a contiguous area of 50 hectares. Support on the ground comes through 30,000 trained Community Resource Persons (called Krishi Sakdes) and a network of 10,000 Bio-input Resource Centres that supply ready-made natural farming inputs.

Incentive and Benefits

Farmers enrolled in the mission get an output based incentive of ₹4,000 per acre every year for two years. The incentive is capped at a maximum of one acre per farmer, and it is paid in installments after the farmer completes the expected natural farming practices and training work.

Along with the cash incentive, farmers receive free training at Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Agricultural Universities, and continuous on-field guidance from Krishi Sakhdes. The mission also supports a simple certification system and plans a common national brand for naturally produced chemical-free produce so that farmers can get a better market price.

Eligibility for the Natural Farming Mission

Any farmer who is willing to learn and practice natural farming can be a part of the mission. The farmer should be a resident of the selected Gram Panchayat and should be ready to start natural farming on a small area of land in the first year. He or she has to attend awareness meetings, trainings and demonstration sessions. After learning, the farmer is expected to create awareness among six other farmers so that the practice spreads across the village.

How to Get Enrolled in the Natural Farming Mission

STEP 1 - Visit the official Natural Farming Mission portal at naturalfarming.dac.gov.in and go through the guidelines and the dashboard for your state.

STEP 2 - Contact the Krishi Sakhi, community worker or the block level implementation unit in your Gram Panchayat. Village level awareness meetings tell you who to contact.

STEP 3 - Attend the orientation and demonstration programs organized in your village and show your willingness to practice natural farming on part of your farmland.

STEP 4 - The Krishi Sakhi or the village team will enroll you as a willing farmer on the official NMNF portal and link your farm to the cluster. Training at a KVK or Agricultural University begins and you can start following the package of practices, and the incentive comes as per the output.

Mission Progress and Status Update

The National Mission on Natural Farming has moved from the launch stage into field level implementation. As per the official update in March 2026, 18,786 NF clusters have been formed covering 8.80 lakh hectares area, and 18.19 lakh farmers have been enrolled. Around 33,676 Community Resource Persons have also been trained at KVKs and Agricultural Universities that and 10,000 Bio-input Resource Centres are being taken up in multiple locations.

The department recently shared a NITI Aayog survey in which roughly 91% of the farmers reported higher crop productivity and better soil health after switching to natural farming, and almost 90% reported a fall in input costs. You can check the official PIB update on Natural Farming Mission for the latest verified data.
