Rajasthan government runs the Dr. Savita Ben Ambedkar Inter Caste Marriage Scheme through the Social Justice and Empowerment Department. The scheme encourages inter-caste marriages between Scheduled Caste and Hindu Savarna couples and offers a financial incentive of ₹10 lakh to newly married couples. It is one of the main state schemes working to end caste-based discrimination and support couples who choose a partner from another caste.
The scheme was earlier known as the Rajasthan Inter Caste Marriage Scheme. It is now officially called the Dr. Savita Ben Ambedkar Inter Caste Marriage Scheme. Under this scheme, a couple where one partner belongs to a Scheduled Caste and the other to a Hindu Savarna caste gets a cash incentive. The amount was raised from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh for marriages registered after 1 April 2023. Couples can use this money to settle into married life without money problems.
