Telangana government's KCR Kit scheme has been renamed as the MCH Kit Scheme (Mother and Child Health Kit) for pregnant women. The state health department now runs the scheme through the official portal mchkit.telangana.gov.in. Pregnant women can register at their nearest government hospital, Primary Health Center or with the help of an ASHA worker. The scheme gives cash support of ₹12,000 for a baby boy and ₹13,000 for a baby girl, along with a kit of 16 items for the mother and newborn.
The scheme was first launched in the 2017-18 budget by the earlier state government and came into effect from 4 June 2017. It was earlier known as KCR Kit, named after the former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. The current government has renamed it to MCH Kit and continues to run it for the welfare of mothers and newborn babies in Telangana.
Telangana MCH Kit Scheme 2026
Telangana MCH Kit Scheme is a maternal and child health scheme of the Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Government of Telangana. It encourages pregnant women to deliver their babies in government hospitals and public health centers. The scheme gives both cash support and a free kit of daily care items for the mother and the newborn.
Pregnant women can use this scheme for a maximum of two deliveries. Only women who give birth at a government hospital or public health institution can get the benefit. The main aim of the scheme is to reduce infant and maternal death rates, stop female foeticide and make sure every mother and child gets proper care during and after pregnancy.
Benefits Under MCH Kit Scheme
Eligible pregnant women get cash support in instalments along with a free MCH Kit. The total cash support is ₹12,000 for a baby boy and ₹13,000 for a baby girl. The amount is paid directly to the bank account through DBT payment in stages linked to antenatal check-ups, delivery and immunisation.
- ₹3,000 is credited after two ANC checkups within 5.5 months from the LMP date, approved by the Medical Officer.
- ₹4,000 is credited after delivery if a baby boy is born, and ₹5,000 if a baby girl is born.
- ₹2,000 is credited after the first immunisation of the child within 3 months after delivery.
- ₹3,000 is credited after the second immunisation within 9 months after delivery.
Items in the MCH Kit
The MCH Kit contains 16 essential items that help the mother and newborn for the first few months after delivery. The kit includes baby clothing, hygiene products, baby care items and a baby bed with a mosquito net. The items are given below.
- Baby bed with attached mosquito protection net.
- Baby dresses, towels and washable nappies.
- Baby powder, shampoo, oil and soap with a soap box.
- Baby rattle toy, mother's soap, sarees, kit bag and plastic basket.
Who Can Apply
Pregnant women who live in Telangana and have a Telangana Aadhaar card can apply for the scheme. The delivery must happen in a government hospital or public health center. Women with more than two surviving children, women who deliver in private hospitals, and women without a Telangana Aadhaar card are not eligible for the scheme.
How to Register Online
Registration under the MCH Kit Scheme is done through the nearest government hospital, Primary Health Center or with the help of an ASHA worker. The registration and verification is handled by the health department staff. The process is given below.
STEP 1 - Visit the nearest government hospital, public health center or contact the ASHA worker serving your area.
STEP 2 - Give the required details such as Aadhaar number, name, age, address, mobile number, LMP date, registration date and bank account details.
STEP 3 - The Data Entry Operator or Auxiliary Nurse Midwife completes the registration through the scheme portal.
STEP 4 - After registration, the application goes to the Medical Officer for approval, then to the Deputy District Health and Medical Officer for further approval.
STEP 5 - Once approved, the cash support is sent directly to the bank account in instalments, and the MCH Kit is given through the health center after delivery.
Documents Required
Applicants need a Telangana Aadhaar card, a mobile number and bank account details for registration under the scheme. The health staff may ask for a few more details during the registration process.
