Shravan Bal Yojana Maharashtra Eligibility Criteria
Check the complete eligibility criteria before applying for the pension scheme. The conditions are based on age, family income and residence in Maharashtra.
- Age: Applicant should be a destitute senior citizen who has completed 65 years of age.
- Income: Family name should be included in the BPL list of rural or urban areas, or the annual family income should be below ₹21,000. For disabled beneficiaries, the annual income limit is ₹50,000.
- Residence: Applicant should be a resident of Maharashtra for at least 15 years.
- No double benefit: Person receiving regular monthly pension under any other government scheme cannot receive benefits under this scheme.
People from both BPL and non-BPL families are covered under Shravan Bal Yojana. As per the official scheme page, eligible elderly persons get ₹1,500 per month. BPL beneficiaries may also remain eligible for the separate central government support under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme.

Documents Required
Age Proof: Any one of these - birth certificate from Gram Panchayat / Municipal body, school leaving certificate, ration card, voter list or Aadhaar card. If none of these is available, an age certificate from a Government Medical Officer with the doctor's name and registration number can be given.
Income Proof: Certificate from Tehsildar or Sub-Divisional Officer showing that the family is below the poverty line.
Residence Proof: Certificate from Gram Sevak / Talathi / Mandal Inspector, or a residence certificate issued by a court.
After beneficiaries of Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Anudan Yojana attain the age of 65 years, they will be included in Shravan Bal Seva State Pension Scheme and Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme subject to the criteria of these schemes.
Government also reserves the right to approve an application that meets the prescribed conditions and is received by the government in a particular case.
Shravan Bal Yojana Application Process
Applicants can apply in two ways. Offline application works through the local revenue offices, and online application uses the state citizen service portal. Both methods are explained below.
STEP 1 - Go to the official website of Social Justice and Special Assistance department at sjsa.maharashtra.gov.in or open the MAITRI portal where the Shravan Bal Seva service is available for citizens.
STEP 2 - Register or log in on the portal using the mobile number and Aadhaar details.
STEP 3 - Select Shravan Bal Seva Rajya Nivruttivetan Yojana or Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana / Shravan Bal Yojana service under the Social Justice department.
STEP 4 - Fill in the application form with personal details, family income and bank account information, upload the required documents and submit the form.
STEP 5 - Note down the application ID after submission. To check the application status, visit the state benefit portal at mahadbt2.maharashtra.gov.in. The earlier status link sas.mahait.org now opens this state benefit portal.
For offline application, collect the form from Collector Office, Tehsildar Office, Talathi Office or the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Anudan Yojana branch.
