State Rice Mission Scheme helps farmers of Meghalaya raise rice production by providing good quality certified seeds and organic fertilizers at 50% subsidy. It also supports modern farming equipment, minor irrigation works, training and technology support for paddy farming.

This state level scheme is still open for bonafide farmers in 2026. Eligible farmers can write a plain paper application and submit it at the nearest Agriculture Development Officer office of their CD Block or Agriculture Circle. Selection is done on first come first served basis for farmers who have enough available cultivable land.

Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Government of Meghalaya manages State Rice Mission Scheme. The mission started on April 1, 2013 as a State Plan Scheme to bridge the gap between rice demand and availability in the state.

The main aim is to increase productivity and production of rice through improved technologies and better extension methods. Under the scheme, farmers get quality or certified paddy seeds and organic fertilizers at 50% subsidy, along with help for minor irrigation, farm machinery and skill training.

Benefits

Support given under State Rice Mission Scheme covers different parts of rice farming:

• Quality paddy seeds: certified seeds supplied at 50% subsidy to farmers.
• Organic fertilizers and bio-inputs: available at 50% subsidy to improve soil health.
• Minor irrigation: support for check dams, shallow tube wells and similar water facilities.

Application Process

Application process is offline. Farmers should follow these steps:

STEP 1 - Write a formal application on a plain sheet of paper asking to join the scheme. Mention name, village, block, land details and the type of support required.

STEP 2 - Collect all required documents including identity proof, land ownership or lease records, passport size photo and active bank account details.

STEP 3 - Visit the nearest Agriculture Development Officer at the CD Block or Agriculture Circle office and submit the signed application with the documents.

STEP 4 - Keep a copy of the submitted application for future reference. Beneficiaries are selected on first come first served basis for farmers with sufficient available cultivable land.
