This scheme has been designed to reduce the input cost of horticulture farming in Puducherry. It covers fruits, vegetables, coconut, tapioca and betel vine through different patterns of support. Farmers with a valid farmer identity card or authenticated land records can apply to receive one-time, bi-annual or annual financial support.
Under the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the department publishes the pattern of support and seasonality for each crop. Farmers apply in the prescribed format. All categories of farmers can apply. The main condition is possession of a farmer identity card or authenticated land records and documents. Farmers and farm women with a Smart Farmer Identity Card can submit their application at the Horticultural wing of the Department of Agriculture, Puducherry.
Tenants cultivating land owned by religious institutions, Wakfs, Mutts, Trusts or Municipalities have to produce a letter of consent from the authority and a cultivation certificate from the landowner or the Agriculture or Revenue Department after joint verification.
