Haryana government is running Financial Assistance to Destitute Children Scheme for kids below 21 years who have lost parental care because of a parent's death, long absence from home, jail term or serious illness. Families now get ₹2100 per month per child, revised with effect from 1 January 2024, with support limited to two children per family.
Scheme is handled by Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Haryana. Eligible parents or guardians can apply either offline at their District Social Welfare Office (DSWO) or online through Antyodaya-SARAL Portal. Yearly family income should be under ₹2,00,000 to qualify.
Financial Assistance to Destitute Children Scheme Haryana 2026
This state scheme was started in March 2009 with a small ₹200 monthly grant per child. Amount has been revised many times since then: ₹500 in 2014, ₹700 in 2016, ₹900 in 2017, ₹1100 in 2018, ₹1350 in 2020, ₹1600 in 2021, ₹1850 in 2023, and now ₹2100 per child per month from 1 January 2024. Detailed scheme rules and past notifications are covered in the Haryana Destitute Child Pension Scheme guidelines PDF.
Aim is simple. Kids who have lost the earning parent or main caregiver should not drop out of school or go hungry. Money goes straight to the parent or guardian's bank account every month through DBT payment. Government employees, pensioners and families with a working parent above the income limit are not covered.
