Bhausaheb Fundkar Falbag Lagvad Scheme supports farmers in Maharashtra with financial help for planting 16 types of perennial fruit crops. This state-level scheme of the Agriculture Department gives the subsidy in three yearly instalments of 50:30:20 so that a new orchard can be set up and maintained properly over three years.
For 2026-27, the MahaDBT farmer portal is set to reopen for fresh registration and new applications. From 2025-26 the department has shifted to a first come first serve method of approval, so farmers should apply as soon as the portal opens and keep their documents ready. The scheme is being implemented by the Commissionerate of Agriculture, Maharashtra State, Pune.
Bhausaheb Fundkar Falbag Lagvad Scheme - Introduction
The scheme began in the Kharif season of 2018-19 and covers 16 perennial horticulture crops: Mango, Cashew, Guava, Sapota, Custard Apple, Pomegranate, Lemon, Coconut, Tamarind, Fig, Amla, Kokum, Jackfruit, Jamun, Orange and Mosambi. Farmers already eligible under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) should first take the fruit plantation benefit under MGNREGA up to 2 hectares, and the remaining area can be covered under this scheme.
Landholding limits differ by region. In Konkan division, minimum 0.10 hectare (10 gunthe) and maximum 10.00 hectares. In other divisions, minimum 0.20 hectare (20 gunthe) and maximum 6.00 hectares. A farmer can plant more than one fruit crop within these limits. Drip irrigation is compulsory for the orchard, and farmers get 100 percent subsidy for installing the drip set.
Subsidy is credited directly to the Aadhaar-linked bank account of the farmer. To keep receiving the yearly instalments, plants must survive at 80 percent or more in the first year. For second and third year payments, irrigated plants should survive at 90 percent and dryland plants at 80 percent. If the survival rate falls below this, the remaining subsidy is not paid and the farmer has to replace the plants at his own cost.
