Odisha Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme offers purchase support to people who buy electric vehicles registered in the state. Under the current rules, buyers can get up to ₹20,000 on a two wheeler, up to ₹30,000 on a three wheeler and up to ₹1,50,000 on a four wheeler.
The scheme comes under Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021, which the state government notified on the advice of NITI Aayog. The policy was valid till 31 December 2025, and the government has extended the validity for a few months through multiple notifications. As of the latest official notification dated 30 June 2026, the policy stays in force till 30 September 2026.
Odisha Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme 2026
Odisha Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme started on 1 September 2021 with a flat 15% subsidy on the cost of the vehicle, capped at ₹5,000 for two wheelers, ₹10,000 for three wheelers and ₹50,000 for four wheelers. On 26 April 2023, the Commerce and Transport Department amended the purchase incentive to a battery-based structure, which gives higher support and is still applicable in the current extension period.
The subsidy amount is credited directly to the bank account of the beneficiary by the concerned Regional Transport Office (RTO) where the vehicle is registered. Only approved electric vehicles registered in Odisha can get this cash benefit.
Odisha EV Subsidy Amount
The present subsidy rates are higher than the original flat 15% structure. For two and four wheelers, the amount depends on the battery capacity, while three wheelers get a flat incentive.
- Electric two wheeler: subsidy of ₹5,000 per kWh, subject to a maximum of ₹20,000.
- Electric three wheeler: flat subsidy of ₹30,000 per vehicle.
- Electric four wheeler: subsidy of ₹10,000 per kWh, subject to a maximum of ₹1,50,000.
Validity and Latest Extension
The initial policy period of the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021 ended on 31 December 2025, but the support has not stopped. The government extended the policy in steps: till 31 March 2026 through a notification dated 31 December 2025, then till 30 June 2026 through a notification dated 31 March 2026, and finally till 30 September 2026 through the latest notification dated 30 June 2026. The official document with these details is available at the Commerce and Transport Department website: Odisha EV Policy 2021 notification PDF.
This policy also provides 100% exemption on motor vehicle tax and registration fees for all categories of electric vehicles during the policy period. It was notified on 29 October 2021. Buyers can also get a 5% interest subsidy on loans taken for a personal EV, and state government employees can get interest-free loans for buying an electric vehicle.
