Central government has launched One Nation One Fertilizer Scheme 2024 on 17 October 2022. In this scheme, farmers will get cheaper and good quality fertiliser under brand name “Bharat” which will be called as Bharat Urea. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the name of ONOF scheme will be Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Urvarak Pariyojana. One Nation One Fertilizer Scheme 2024
Under One Nation One Fertilizer Scheme, it is mandatory for companies to market all subsidised fertilisers under single brand “Bharat”. PM Narendra Modi also inaugurated 600 PM Kisan Samruddhi Kendras (PM-KSK) at a two-day event held at Mela ground in Pusa complex in the national capital.
Bharat Urea for Farmers in India
In the biggest move in fertiliser sector, all subsidised soil nutrients – urea, Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP), Muriate of Potash (MoP) and NPK – will be marketed under a single brand “Bharat” across the entire Indian nation. Central government is making it mandatory for companies to market subsidised fertilisers under “Bharat” brand. This is being done as part of the “One Nation, One Fertiliser” (ONOF) scheme of the Fertiliser and Chemicals Ministry. Bharat Urea will be given to all farmers to prevent criss-cross movement of fertilisers and reduce high frieght subsidy.
PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendra (PM-KSK)
Currently, fertiliser retail shops in the country are company-managed, cooperative shops or retailed to private dealers. These retail shops will now be converted into PM Kisan Samruddhi Kendras. Union government plans to convert at least one retail shop at each district level to a model shop. The plan to is convert 3,30,449 retail fertiliser shops into PM-KSK.
Role of PM Kisan Samruddhi Kendras
PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendra will ensure following things for benefit of farmers:-
- Supply of agri-inputs like seeds, fertilisers and farm implements,
- Provide testing facilities for soil, seeds and fertilisers,
- Providing information about government schemes.
While launching One Nation One Fertilizer Scheme 2024, PM Modi said “Now, urea of uniform quality will be sold in the country under one name and one brand. This brand is Bharat. Today, in the form of One Nation One Fertilizer, a scheme has been started to provide cheaper and good quality fertilizers to the farmers under the Bharat brand. With One Nation One Fertilizer, farmers are going to get rid of all kinds of confusion and will get better fertilizer.”
