Haryana government runs Nirogi Haryana Scheme, a free health checkup program for Antyodaya families across the state. About Nirogi Haryana Scheme 2026
Nirogi Haryana stands for New Initiative for Robust and Good Health in Haryana. It is the first scheme of its kind in India to carry out large scale health checkups of Antyodaya families. The scheme covers 30,59,566 Antyodaya families with 1,21,54,119 members. Every eligible person gets a free health screening once in two years.
If any disease is found during the checkup, the person gets all required tests and treatment free of cost. The checkup is done by trained health staff and doctors at nearby health centers. There is a separate queue for registration and checkup of Antyodaya beneficiaries at health facilities.
Nirogi Haryana Scheme Expansion in 2026
The scheme has been expanded in phases. In the first phase, families with an annual income up to ₹1.8 lakh were covered. In the second phase, the annual family income limit was raised from ₹1.8 lakh to ₹3 lakh. This has increased the target beneficiary base from around 1.59 crore to about 2.30 crore people.
In the third phase, the state government has decided to include all citizens above 70 years of age, regardless of their income. This step was announced in the 2026-27 Haryana Budget by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. It is expected to give a strong safety net to elderly citizens.
Category of Beneficiaries in Nirogi Haryana Yojana
The Nirogi Haryana Scheme beneficiaries have been divided into six categories as per their age. Each age group has a different set of tests to match the health needs of that age.
- Infants up to six months old, with haemoglobin (Hb) test
- Six to 59 months (around 5 years) old, with Hb test
- Above 5 to 18 years, with Hb, FBS/RBS and urine routine tests
- Above 18 to 40 years, with CBC, FBS/RBS, serum cholesterol, blood urea, serum creatinine and urine tests
- Above 40 to 60 years, with all the above tests plus TSH, PSA and VIA/PAP smear
- Above 60 years, with the same full set of tests as the 40 to 60 age group
Each category has been assigned a different coloured OPD card. The checkup includes a complete general and physical examination, along with height, weight, pulse, blood pressure, dental and eye examination. More than 25 different tests are done as per the age category.

The health checkup includes a complete general and physical examination, including physical measurements, height, weight, pulse, blood pressure, dental and eye examination. Some mandatory tests are listed for each category. Specific laboratory tests are also done as advised by the examining doctors.
The scheme has moved beyond hospitals to reach people at their doorstep. As many as 1,11,116 outreach camps have been organized, screening over 38.63 lakh beneficiaries. Mobile Medical Units have held 12,579 camps, covering nearly 2.8 lakh people. Screening has also been done in 25,907 Anganwadis, 14,316 schools and 13,034 industrial and high-risk areas.
